Why You’ll Love It: Guests love the ancient traditions that shine through The Spa at Séc-he’s architecture, design, and services. The site of the Agua Caliente Hot Mineral Spring is where it all began. It is a place rooted in tradition, healing and tranquility. For centuries, Séc-he—the Cahuilla word for the sound of boiling water—has been the center of Tribal life for the Agua Caliente people, imbued with cultural and spiritual significance.
The Agua Caliente people have been sharing the healing water with visitors for more than 130 years, making it the area’s first tourist attraction. Today, The Spa at Séc-he continues the tradition of sharing these sacred waters and the healing power they provide. This cultural tie is what our guests fall in love with, as it allows them to take part in something special.
The Spa at Séc-he, the Coachella Valley’s newest luxury day spa, is located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs just minutes from the Palm Springs International Airport, making it a great first stop on a visit to Palm Springs. Guests of The Spa at Séc-he visit from near and far to dip body and spirit into the ancient hot water and soak in its curative powers.
Key Features: Our new global destination day spa offers a one-of-a-kind Taking of the Waters private mineral soaking experience unique to The Spa at Séc-he. The hot mineral water last saw the Earth’s surface more than 12,000 years ago and is made up of a mineral combination only found on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation.
The Spa at Séc-he’s premier lineup of amenities includes a boutique fitness room, a grounding room with zero-gravity loungers, an acoustic wellness lounge for audio therapy, a tranquility garden, menthol dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, two halotherapy salt caves, a waterfall pool with a paradise-inspired grotto, zero-edge mineral pool, whirlpools, luxury cabanas, cozy day beds, a full-service salon with scalp treatment beds, and a cafe and poolside bar—Málmal Café and Pál Bar.
Bonus: The indoor tranquility garden is reserved for guests who book spa services. It is the guest’s final stop before their treatment and provides a serene place to prepare the mind for the service ahead, while they lounge and enjoy the tranquil sounds of the garden’s waterfall.
In addition, spa guests enjoy the outdoor pool area featuring a mineral water pool and a waterfall pool. The spa’s expansive resort-style pool area also offers food and beverage service from the poolside Pál Bar, including cocktails, smoothies, entrees, and more.
Snacks Served: The Spa at Séc-he is home to two dining options. Málmal Café offers a delightful combination of health-forward and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. In addition to serving spa guests, Málmal Café, named for the Cahuilla word for butterfly, is also a great way for guests to get to know The Spa at Séc-he, whether it’s sitting down with friends or coworkers to experience a quick and healthy meal, or to grab a fresh-made smoothie on the go.
Poolside Pál Bar dishes up for spa guests entrees and snacks highlighting locally and seasonally sourced ingredients, and features cold and hot cuisine along with cocktails. On the heartier side, Pál Bar’s wellness menu includes selections from the turkey avocado flatbread and the tabbouleh grilled salmon salad to the barbecue chicken breast and the chicken Caesar flatbread. Also available are protein-alternative snacks such as the baked spiced chick peas and the avocado toast.
Insider’s Tip: The Spa at Séc-he offers a private spa suite available to reserve for up to 18 people. Private men’s and women’s locker rooms lead into the lounge with a fireplace, plush couches, and a big screen TV. This luxurious private spa suite also features its own mineral water whirlpool against breathtaking views of the Palm Springs mountain range, plus a private patio deck.
Splurge Treatment: The Spa at Séc-he’s Quartz and Poultice Massage is a 90-minute treatment that promotes rejuvenation. It is performed on a heated bed of crushed quartz reminiscent of warm desert sands. Therapists combine heated poultices with various compression techniques and aromatherapy. Sound bowls and the crushed quartz bed create vibrations for the ultimate relaxation.
Unique Treatment: Our most unique treatment is The Spa at Séc-he’s Water Cupping Massage, inspired by “Agua Caliente” or “hot water,” which is performed on water pillows that evoke the feeling of floating on a bed of water. A traditional cupping service that isolates various areas of the body, the therapist gently moves the cups across the body throughout the treatment to release tension and increase circulation. The technique emulates myofascial work.
Insider’s Favorite: The Spa at Séc-he offers flotation as an add-on to any service or day pass, with 60- or 90-minute options available. This is my ultimate favorite spa experience, and I find that the 90-minute float makes the most impact on my mind and body. Known for reducing stress levels, flotation has also been found to boost creativity as well as support pain relief. It’s an amazing way to give the body and mind a much-needed rest and reset.
