When World Spa opened in Brooklyn in December 2022, it brought an international bathing and sauna culture to New York that had been 10 years in the making.
World Spa’s wellness sanctuary stretches over 50,000 square feet and three floors. It boasts private cabanas, an extensive services menu, and a floor filled with pools and saunas of every conceivable flavor and temperature.
New York Spa Guide: The Best NYC Spas
For spa guests newly rediscovering the benefits of moving from hot to cold, this spa has it all: authentic banyas, Finnish saunas, Turkish and Moroccan hammams, Himalayan salt rooms, Japanese onsens, an infrared sauna, cold plunges, floating pools, a snow room, and more.
Between soaks and steams, you can eat in their lounge or book a private room if you’re a member, all while enjoying an international menu curated by Michelin-starred chef Shaun Hergatt. It’s one of the few New York spas to have a liquor license.
Spa Profile: The Ritz-Carlton Spa New York, NoMad
World Spa is a place of luxury and a place of wellness. It’s no wonder it has captured the attention of guests from around the world as well as the national press. We chatted with Marina, one of the spa’s marketing associates, to learn more about treatments to try, insider tips, and more.
Why You’ll Love It: Our guests often rave about the diversity of amenities and luxury atmosphere that provides an escape from the daily hustle of New York City.
Key Features: World Spa focuses on introducing our guests to various bathing cultures from around the world, especially the all-important heating and cooling cycle, a hallmark of numerous cultures. Our guests can transport themselves into a world of relaxation and exploration by visiting our Moroccan and Turkish Hammams, Japanese-inspired Onsen pools, and so much more!
Experience the Eastern European Village within World Spa, home to the expansive Grand Banya—the largest Eastern European banya in the United States. The Village is represented by two banyans (Grand and Petite), an invigorating cold plunge pool, the one-of-a-kind Snow Room, and two private treatment rooms. The Eastern European Village is an excellent example of a wellness journey centered around thermal contrasts.
Insider’s Tip: No doubt a favorite among many of our staff is our Aroma Sauna. Aroma Sauna features a variety of dried herbs that hang from the ceiling and enchant your senses the moment you step inside. What's more, the herbs' selection changes daily, ensuring that each encounter with the Aroma Sauna is an entirely novel experience.
Bonus: World Spa proudly offers a variety of spa treatments for our guests. For those who want to stay within our pools and saunas, we introduced Cabana Treatments on the main floor, from foot massages and sculpting facials to innovative Waterjet dry massages. Our guests can dive into relaxation without stepping away from their journey of exploration.
Dining Options: World Spa features a lounge located on the main floor and available for dining for all our guests. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, along with signature cocktails and healthful smoothies, our globally-inspired menu caters to every craving during your wellness journey.
Splurge Treatment: A luxurious treatment we recommend trying is our Ultimate Platinum Hydrafacial. The HydraFacial treatment is an innovative non-laser skin resurfacing procedure that combines hydra dermabrasion, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection. With the care of amazing aestheticians, the renowned HydraFacial will leave your skin glowing and healthy.
Unique treatment: We have a variety of diverse treatments for our guests. One of our most unique treatments is our Signature Venik Platza Ritual. Rooted in Eastern European tradition, this ritual employs birch branches and leaves to invigorate circulation, detoxify the body, and elevate the spirits.
Wellness Offerings: Every World Spa guest is invited to participate in our special events every two hours at Grand Banya or Event Sauna. Our professional Banya specialists use snow and water to increase the sauna's temperature and choose volunteers from the audience to perform a Venik Ritual demonstration. Our specialists use fans to circulate hot air within the saunas, culminating in an unparalleled heat journey. To cool down after this invigorating experience, we recommend a refreshing cold plunge or a visit to the Snow Room.
Featured Products: Many of our guests often ask about the unique scents of products we use in our locker and treatment rooms. Explore our website's "Products" section for insights into fragrances designed for rooms and saunas, among other offerings. Perfumes, candle sets, hand creams, and facial masks, thoughtfully chosen, are used by our specialists in treatments and create an ambiance of luxury that lingers in your memory.
