Spa Review: We Tried the Triple Layer Facial at The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans
On a recent girl’s trip to the South, I was able to spend some time at the lovely Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans. Upon walking into the property, my eyes immediately went to one of the most incredible chandeliers that was positioned above the hotel bar.
Photos really can’t do it justice, it’s one of those things you must see in person if the opportunity arises. It is enormous and exquisite, giving off an upscale, old-time vibe that carries throughout the entire hotel including the rooms, restaurant, spa, hallways, and beyond.
Spa Profile: The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans
A major highlight of my time in the Big Easy was a few lovely hours spent in The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans. The spa was inspired by the French phrase “Bon vivant” which means, “One who lives well.”
This could not have described my experience any better. At a glance I experienced stunning interiors, lush amenities, five-star treatment, balcony views of the Mississippi followed by a taste inspired by the city’s famous pralines—all while sipping on a custom mimosa.
When I walked into the spa I was immediately calmed by the classy interiors and overall vibe of the space. Raw white oak, gray travertine, rattan accents, and wrought iron silhouette-projecting lamps decorated the waiting area, halls, changing rooms, and lounge spaces with nods to Louisiana culture and charm.
I was greeted at the front desk warmly and offered a non-alcoholic sparkling rosé. Cheers to a great spa day ahead!
Here’s what you’ll love about The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans:
Over 5,000 square feet of wellness space including eight treatment rooms and a luxe couple’s room with a soaking tub
Eucalyptus steam room and an aromatic cool mist room featured in each locker room
Spa snacks, cold-pressed teas, and non-alcoholic sparkling rosé
Three comfortable relaxation lounges
Views of the Mississippi River and city
Beautiful artwork from Nicole Charbonnet and Allison Janae Hamilton adore the halls
French treatment techniques, locally-sourced ingredients, and nods to Southern culture seen throughout the treatment menu
Stunning interiors including raw white oak, gray travertine, rattan accents, and wrought iron silhouette-projecting lamps
At the conclusion of each service guests receive a personalized mimosa offering and a sumptuous dark chocolate with nuts inspired by the famous pralines of New Orleans
Next, I was taken to the locker rooms and given a plush robe and slippers to change into. The changing room area featured vanities with all the goods needed to freshen up post-spa time. Eucalyptus steam rooms and an aromatic cool mist rooms are located in this area as well and are available for guests to use before and after their spa services.
I was shown around the rest of the spa which includes eight treatment rooms and three spa lounges, including one outside lounge that offers views of the city and the Mississippi River. I had a few moments to relax and nibble on dried fruit and sesame sticks before my service began.
Soon, I was led into a dimly lit treatment room where I would experience the Triple Lift Facial, a favorite on the spa menu. For the next 110 minutes, my face, neck, and décolletage were treated to a protocol of galvanic currents and French micro-needling.
The micro-needling was mild, though very effective with no down-time afterward. My esthetician Julie was kind and knowledgeable, explaining each step while easing me into comfort with her expert skill and touch.
Potent skin boosters were massaged into my skin for a nourishing, anti-aging effect. I opted for a couple of add-ons to the facial including a Platysma sheet mask by Biologique Recherche that conveniently hooked onto my ears as well as an ultra-relaxing scalp massage/nourishing hair oil application. The sleek design was comfortable with lifting active ingredients being put to work on my skin.
Beyond feeling completely transported and deeply relaxed, my skin was visibly plumped and dewy for days to follow. The Triple Layer Facial got the job done with its many techniques and actives.
I floated into the relaxation space that was adjacent to the spa’s outdoor balcony. I was offered dark chocolate with nuts—a nod to to the famous pralines of New Orleans. The lounge had a lovely set-up where guests could make customized mimosas.
I found this space particularly aesthetically pleasing to the eye with natural light peering into long wooden partitioned spaces, providing total privacy. I took my time, enjoying the locker room amenities and shower before changing into my clothes then checking out at the front desk.
I also enjoyed browsing the shelves in the retail boutique and found many lovely brands including Biologique Recherche, Seed to Skin Tuscany, Aromatherapy Associates, and Zents.
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans was elegant and enjoyable in every sense. I hope to make it back next time I’m in the Crescent City!
