American singer Frank Sinatra was a frequent guest at The Beverly Hills Hotel, and enjoyed numerous drinking bouts in the Polo Lounge with members of his beloved Rat Pack. He was also a big fan of the Paul Williams Suite in the hotel’s main house.

As part of the property’s historic bungalow restoration program led by Champalimaud Design, 21 bungalows are being redesigned—five of which are distinct legendary bungalows featuring design elements inspired by select notable guests such as Sinatra himself, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, and Charlie Chaplin.

Its masculine and mid-to-late 70s design is reflective of Sinatra’s Palm Springs home, with a modern and contemporary decor that features leather-wrapped columns, a stone and leather fireplace mantle, extensive use of wood varieties that include Douglas Fir ceilings and walnut furniture, desert colors, and earthy neutral tones.

The one-bedroom bungalow suite (1,200 square-feet) includes a living room with dining area, fireplace and half bath; master suite with fireplace, full master bath and dressing room, two private terraces., and an adjoining bedroom option. It also includes state-of-the-art technological upgrades, such as light and temperature control panels, and premier Bang Olufsen TVs.

The fireplace design is an homage to Sinatra’s “party pad” home on Farralone Avenue in Los Angeles.
The architecture of the suite is inspired by mid-century design, which emphasized by ample windows and open floor plans. The ceilings and columns embrace the simplicity and geometric lines that mid-century architecture is known for.
The materials and fabrics were inspired by a combination of times in Sinatra’s life: 1) A mix of sleek shagreens and mica wall covering represent the flashy New York 1950s Rat Pack day; 2) The sand and orange fabrics and wall treatments symbolize the desert of California, while 3) The mid-century furniture and printed linen fabrics were inspired by his own mid-century home in Palm Springs.
Artwork includes a “Frank & Ava” commissioned piece by Batya Kuncman base off a photo. Ava Gardner was Sinatra’s famous ex-wife.
