The Beverly Hills Hotel Redesigns Historic Poolside Cabanas

The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel recently completed a restoration of its historic poolside cabanas.

From its signature banana leaf wallpaper to the Polo Lounge, The Beverly Hills Hotel is an iconic destination that is a favorite among celebrities for its modern-day luxuries and fascinating history. Recently, the “Pink Palace” completed a restoration of its private poolside cabanas that pay homage to the hotel’s iconic design elements.

The masterful redesign of all 11 cabanas was led by world-renowned interior design firm, Champalimaud Design, and each space reflects a nostalgic sense of Hollywood glamour. Design details include basket weave on the chairs, terrazzo on the coffee tables, pink-and-white interior striped awnings, and beautiful peach-pink tables sourced from local Los Angeles designer, Bend.

The newly refreshed cabanas convey a welcoming residential feel while paying homage to the hotel’s iconic design elements.

One of the most notable design features is the pink Martinique® banana leaf wallpaper made by CW Stockwell. A new colorway, the pink color was reintroduced from the company’s archives to complement the hotel’s original green interiors.

This is the first time The Beverly Hills hotel has installed this iconic wallpaper since the original installation in the 1940s. The wallpaper is also featured in the Fountain Coffee Room and in all of the hallways of the hotel (spanning 5 1/2 miles!)

“What distinguishes The Beverly Hills Hotel from all others is its magical history,” says Alexandra Champalimaud, Founder and President of Champalimaud Design. “Through time it has been the destination of movie stars and socialites, kings and queens. Vivacious and brimming with life, there is a particularly strong culture around the swimming pool and cabanas. The cabanas hold prime seats to a mesmerizing show of beautiful people wading in clusters, chatting in groups as laughter permeates the air. You sit with your family, surrounded by beauty and laughter, and you watch as the amazing show goes on.”

The most notable design feature in the cabanas is the pink Martinique® banana leaf wallpaper made by CW Stockwell.

The Beverly Hills Hotel pool and cabanas are open to hotel guests from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
