We Tried Auric Beauty
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a sucker for influencer brands and products.
Samantha Ravndahl has always been a favorite of mine, so when she launched her brand Auric earlier this year, I was first in line to click “add to cart.” With a following of over 3 million on social media, Samantha is a force to be reckoned with.
What I have always appreciated about Sam (I’m going to call her Sam, because in my mind, we are friends), is her honesty. She tells it exactly like it is. She also cares about important issues and means it. She even stopped accepting PR in an effort to reduce and cut back on the vast amount of waste it was creating.
I’ve always not so secretly wanted to be Canadian (see my post about Walton Wood Farm – another Canadian company here) and Canadian influencers have always had an extra special place in my heart.
Canadian influencer + unbelievable talent with a side of sarcasm and wit? I’m in.
What stands out most about Auric, and differentiates itself from others, is the vision and what it stands for. The definition of Auric is “of, relating to or derived from gold.“ Sam explained in her launch video that in the context of her brand, the most golden thing is people.
She wanted to create a brand that focused on inclusivity, that valued people first. She describes the brand as “modern luxury” what she envisions to be the future of luxury products.
As an influencer, Sam decided to make the switch to cruelty-free products, which meant giving up many luxury brands. What she didn’t mind giving up was the lack of inclusivity, animal testing, and pricing that to her didn’t reflect the quality of the products.
Auric was created with artistry heavily in mind and with the understanding that there is flexibility within makeup.
It officially launched on January 26 at 9 a.m. PST with two products. I wasn’t kidding when I said I was first in line. By 9:01 a.m., my order was complete.
Glow Lust: Radiant Luminzer ($45 USD)
In a beautiful 35 ml glass bottle, Glow Lust comes in seven shades.
It can be mixed with skin care under or over foundation—or however you want to use it to add glow and radiance. Glow lust is fragrance-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, glitter-free, and made with hydrating ingredients on an active level. The packaging is glass over plastic so that they are able to be recycled.
All of the shades are named after gemstones or minerals. Sam opted for names for each shade rather than numbers: Morganite, Selenite, Pyrite, Citrine, Goldstone, Axinite, and Tourmaline.
Smoke Reflect Cream + Powder Eye Shadow Duo ($39 USD)
Textured shiny topper shadow + Long wearing/creaseless cream shadow. In three shades, the goal was to launch with an eyeshadow product that was versatile and unique:
Defiance (Bronze/Gold), Ego (Silver), and Temper (Rose Gold).
I have been using and loving the products for the past few weeks and they’re definitely a pleasant addition to my makeup routine.
The Glow Lust is extremely versatile and my favorite way to use it is mixed in with my foundation to give some added glow. I have been using the shade Selenite.
The Smoke Reflect in Temper is a gorgeous rose gold shade. It is creaseless, easy to use, and perfect for a quick Zoom meeting makeup routine. Note: I have the oiliest eyelids ever and I recently used it without primer (gasp!) and it didn’t crease!
The shimmering topper can be used by itself or on top of the cream. So good!
When I can finally go back to my favorite place—Las Vegas, I’m going to need all the shimmer I can get and it’s going with me.
