We Tried Touchland Hand Sanitizer and Now Can’t Leave Home Without It
Before the pandemic, I almost never used hand sanitizer. My hand hygiene routine consisted of washing my hands with soap. That’s all. In fact, hand sanitizer wasn’t something I thought about very much. Of course, that’s all changed due to the new world we live in with COVID-19. Now hand sanitizer is a must-have, and you’re lucky if you can even find clean essentials like hand sanitizer to buy. Don’t even get me started on Clorox wipes.
One of the reasons I didn’t use hand sanitizer very often before was because the ones I’d tried usually had a greasy texture and were drying. I also wasn’t too thrilled with the scent. Luckily, I’ve found a fantastic hand sanitizer that I just love. It smells delicious, it’s cute, and it fits perfectly in even a small purse. Touchland is now my go-to, and for once, I’m actually a fan of hand sanitizer.
Touchland hand sanitizer mist comes in a cool-looking, sleek and modern spray container that has over 500 fine mist sprays. The size fits perfectly in your pocket or purse, and the pulverizer spray system ensures that the fast-evaporating sanitizer formula gets evenly distributed across your hands. Its active ingredient is 67% ethyl alcohol, but it’s also hydrating with ingredients like aloe vera. To use, just spray it 2 to 3 times over your hands and rub them together until they are dry.
#BeautyBoss: Andrea Lisbona, Founder and CEO of Touchland
So far I’m a little obsessed with the watermelon scent, which I’m currently using. It’s described as “a warm day in the sun with your weekend clique,” and I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic with that fragrance interpretation. I also have tried lavender and the refreshing mint scent, and they both are lovely as well.
The brand’s origins date back to 2010 in Barcelona, Spain when founder and CEO Andrea Lisbona noticed several problems in the hand sanitizer industry. Although hand sanitizing was an important part of overall hygiene, she observed that the user experience was terrible, sanitizers had an overpowering vodka smell, and the gross application of goopy gels wasn’t pleasant. Furthermore, they often led to dry, cracked skin from overuse. Beyond that, the products were just plain ugly!
Given these issues, Lisbona sought out to identify solutions in order to elevate this everyday experience. She began working in hand sanitizer distribution to intimately understand the back end parts of the hand sanitizing business to learn to solve the problems from the inside out. In 2018, Lisbona moved to Miami and opened Touchland's HQ. The brand officially launched at the end of 2018 on Touchland.com and the rest is history.
At the beginning of March, Touchland was sold out and had a waitlist of over 34,000 orders. They are now available once again at locations including Ulta, Urban Outfitters and Touchland.com for $12 each. The hand sanitizers come in eight fragrances: aloe vera, citrus, forest berry, lavender, neutral, mint, vanilla cinnamon, and watermelon.
