Why We Planted Trees with LASHFOOD, a Clean and Sustainable Beauty Brand
If clean, sustainable beauty is your thing and you’re all about “on fleek” lashes and brows, LASHFOOD is a brand you should know. The brand was born from the idea that clean ingredients can also have effective results and is committed to sustainable, natural beauty. This holiday season, that commitment meant that for every 2019 holiday kit sold, a tree would be planted through the nonprofit One Tree Planted.
In support of the company’s green mission, Spa & Beauty Today had the opportunity to spend a morning planting trees with LASHFOOD. We joined LASHFOOD in Topanga State Park just across from the beautiful blue Malibu sea to plant oak trees. The experts at the nonprofit TreePeople guided us each step of the way, sharing the details of the natural ecosystem in the area and why the trees were needed.
For this location, the oaks would serve as shade to protect salmon eggs. The salmon swim upstream from the ocean to spawn in this particular area, and if it is too hot, the eggs won’t make it. The natural environment of the area had also been affected negatively by squatters who had lived in the area in prior years.
It was a beautiful, cool, and sunny morning to plant trees and as luck would have it, the forecast called for rain the very next day—which meant the acorns we were planting would be watered naturally. Overall, we planted more than 200 oak trees. Getting out in nature, unplugging, and planting trees was an incredibly de-stressing and calming way to do something beneficial for the environment. We hope to make it back to visit in a few months to see baby oaks!
