Spa Diary: Spa Montage in Beverly Hills

Every day, people from all over the world visit Beverly Hills to experience something magical. There is a special energy that whirls around the city’s palm-lined streets. Wander down Canon Drive and you’ll discover movie stars, exotic cars, and get the feeling that anything could happen. There you’ll find the Montage Hotel, home to Spa Montage, a 20,000 square-foot sanctuary of relaxation.

Spa Montage offers the kind of glamour and luxury that you’d only expect to find it in the heart of Beverly Hills. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the spa to experience a fabulous L.Raphael Beauty Diamond Facial. The facial features L.Raphael, an innovative Swiss skincare line focused on anti-aging skincare.

The stunning spa is inspired by traditional Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and is perfect for a lavish day of pampering. With facilities like the gorgeous mineral pool, steam rooms, dry redwood saunas, whirlpools and Swiss showers, it’s best to arrive early to enjoy the amazing amenities.

A tour of the beautiful spa made me excited to experience all of the features. I grabbed a chilled towel and headed to the steam room. After sweating out my stress, I made my way to the relaxation lounge to wait for my service. The elegant lounge is ideal for getting cozy with a good book, meditating or nibbling on a healthy spa snack. Guests can sip on herbal teas or fruit-infused water with the option to season with cayenne pepper or chia seeds for added health benefits.

Lead Esthetician Agne Jankauskiene swooped me up for my facial and led me to the vibey treatment room. The L.Raphael Beauty Diamond facial is an exfoliating facial that can help improve the skin appearance by reducing fine lines, wrinkles and early signs of sun damage. The machine-assisted facial is customized for your skin, sensitivity and preferences, starting with your choice of an aromatherapy fragrance. I loved the way the beauty diamond felt on my skin, like a kitten’s sandpaper kiss as it exfoliated and revitalized my skin.

One of my favorite parts of the facial was the double-layer skin mask. The second layer is painted on to seal in the first layer and dries to a rubbery texture. The peeling off of the mask in one layer is incredibly gratifying. Then there's the relaxing massage aspect of the facial. It’s a full sensory experience with calming music and chimes, lovely scents and just the right touch. The facial is packed with world-class skincare products by L.Raphael including cleansers, lotions, serums, masks and SPF. 

L.Raphael products used in the Diamond Beauty Facial include Soft Foaming Cleansing Gel, Smoothing Lotion, Lifting Eye Serum, Firming Eye Cream, Lifting Serum, Lifting Day Cream, Corrective Moisturizer SPF 15, Intensive Lifting Night Cream and Correcting Mask.

My skin is sensitive and I expected to be red and not want to go out in public after a facial. It usually takes a day before my skin reaches its potential. I was thrilled that my skin was glowing and radiant immediately. It felt so soft and smooth. 

If you are looking for the ultimate in an exfoliating luxury facial, you will find that it is true what they say: "Diamonds are a girl’s best friend." The $690 L.Raphael Beauty Diamond is a splurge experience fit for royalty and A-listers. In fact, Spa Montage is a favorite destination for awards season prep. If you're getting ready for a big event, you may want to get this treatment a few days ahead of time since exfoliation can cause a little temporary redness.

After my facial, I was greeted with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries to celebrate my radiant skin. Every detail of the experience at Spa Montage was exquisite. This is the Beverly Hills dream.
