Beachwaver Launches Make Waves Haircare Collection
Sarah Potempa is a celebrity hairstylist who had an idea for a product that would make it easier to curl hair. Her sister, Erin Potempa-Wall, is a lawyer who joined forces with her to invent a beauty product that would transform the hair industry. The two then got their third sister, Emily Potempa, on board as Creative Director—and the Beachwaver was born.
Fast-forward seven years to June 2019, when the brand launched their haircare and styling product line, Make Waves. The collection provides products for all hair types, with more products to come this year. The line consists of vegan, cruelty-free cleansers, conditioners, and styling products with strengthening formulas, which focus on sustainability.
The Make Waves collection includes moisturizing shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, purple shampoo and conditioner, beach spray, braid balm and fragrances. All these products were created to enhance natural waves, create texture and strengthen while styling. Product details below:

“I find inspiration in the unique beauty of nature,” says Emily Potempa, who photographed the design for the packaging. ”There is nothing I love more than watching the sunset at the beach, as it reminds me to calmly reflect on the day. With our packaging, I wanted to convey that sense of gratitude for the present and the majesty of nature. There is beauty all around us, if we only pause to notice it. My hope is that the Make Waves packaging invokes that same sense of wonder and calm that I feel when I’m watching a gorgeous sunset. When lined up, the entire collection is one continuous photograph which I took.”
