This week’s #BeautyBoss is Cayli Cavaco Reck, Creator and Founder of Knockout Beauty—a boutique retail space and bespoke skin care consultancy. The daughter of two Vogue editors, Reck grew up in the world of elite editorial. She became fascinated with skin and spent years researching physiology, ingredients, formulation and even the way hormones affect our complexions—which ultimately led to the creation of Knockout Beauty. Drawing on her vast knowledge of skin concerns and cutting-edge products, Reck develops a protocol for each client that is truly efficacious. Along with her team of rigorously trained staff, she helps people reach their skin goals and teaches them to learn to love the skin they are in.

Knockout Beauty has two New York locations, one on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and another seasonally in Bridgehampton. Both locations stock products hand-picked by Cayli in all beauty categories, as well as beauty tools and internal wellness supplements. We chatted with Reck, who shared some of her favorite products, beauty secrets, wellness tips, and more:

When did Knockout Beauty launch?

May 2016.

What inspired the creation of Knockout Beauty?

Believe it or not, Knockout Beauty was started on Instagram! Initially the idea was developed to not even be a store, but a forum for information, sharing, community, and instruction.

Tell us more about the products carried at Knockout Beauty.

We have more than 80 brands at Knockout Beauty. We are conscious beauty, which we define as clean as possible with the highest level of efficacy.

What are some hero products available at Knockout Beauty?

  • Lacreme Beauté Venom Rich Treatment Cream. This works to renew and replenish collagen, and its amazing ingredients help with cell regeneration. We call this cream, “Nature’s Botox!”

  • Environ Gold Roll-Cit. The most elegant beauty tool, which also happens to be the most effective. You will achieve overall healthier looking skin by improving fine lines, skin tone, and texture. You will see faster results as it helps with product penetration too.

  • Perfect B3 Spray. Also known as Niacinamide, which is a potent multitasking ingredient that is anti-inflammatory. It has the ability to speed up cell metabolism and cell turnover, revealing younger skin. It’s also clinically proven to be as effective as topical Clindamycin and consequentially very effective in fighting acne.

  • Instytutum Flawless Pads. These powerful, easy-to-use pre-soaked pads are formulated with glycolic, lactic, citric, hyaluronic, and salicylic acids, plus Pro-Vitamin B5, Purslane, and Niacinamide—which helps to reduce pore size, fine lines, and wrinkles, and improve skin tone, texture, and luminosity. They will leave your skin smooth, firm, and renewed in one quick step!

What is one of your personal favorite products right now?

In many ways, I live the Knockout Beauty experience, so I use all of these products along with everyone on my team. I just realized that 80% of our staff were clients!

Who inspires you?

I’m inspired by Brene Brown.

Secrets to success?

I truly believe that in order to run a business, you must be brave, and in order to be brave, you must be vulnerable.

Beauty secret?

I swear by face massage and derma rolling with the Environ Gold Roller.

Wellness tips?

The three S’s: sleep, supplements, and skin care. Skin is your largest organ, your primary barrier for your immune system, and reflects what’s going on internally in your body.
