Behind the Brand: PURIGENEX Transforms Skin With Cutting-Edge Anti-Aging Formulations

Dr. Susanne Bennett is a holistic chiropractor who specializes in environmental medicine, allergies, clinical nutrition, anti-aging, and detoxification. She had a very busy, successful sport medicine and rehabilitation practice, then abruptly had to change due to her infant son’s severe allergies. This led Dr. Bennett to further her medical education in allergies and environmental medicine, and shifted her sports medicine practice to that of an integrative holistic physician.
Ultimately, Dr. Bennett launched PURIGENEX, a body care brand devoted therapeutic skin treatments and skin purifying regimens. In 2007, the brand made its debut at the annual American Academy of Anti-Aging Conference in Las Vegas, which included flagship products made of bioactive collagen products: Intensive Collagen Serum and Ionized Collagen Mask.

We chatted with Dr. Bennett, who shared the inspiration behind the line, its hero product, what’s next, and more.
When was PURIGENEX founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?
In 2007, at 45 years old I saw a candid photo of myself (check it out on the Purigenex website) and was blown away by all of my dark spots, wrinkles, and sagging skin on my forehead, eyes, and jawline. Being a nature-loving gal, I was always in the elements—in the sun, snow, wind, and salty ocean and without much skin protection such as zinc oxide. So I started searching online for the best products for my skin such as serums, oils, and creams to help my damaged skin. I tried everything from the $500 eye creams and potions, as well as the all-natural ones from the health food store, but nothing really made any difference. My skin felt more hydrated, but the wrinkles and discoloration stayed the same.
Being an allergy and natural medicine expert, I was against any type of laser, photo facials, and chemical peels for my sensitive skin. However, once I tried the collagen mask and serum developed by the tissue engineering doctors from Seoul, Korea, I knew right away within days that my skin integrity was getting healthier and my wrinkles were disappearing right before my eyes!
If this revolutionary product improved my unhealthy-looking skin, I sensed that it would help my patients’ skin too, so I contacted the developers and got the sole distribution rights to the collagen mask and serum—and that was the beginning of my company, PURIGENEX.

Tell us more about your products and what makes them special.
PURIGENEX Collagen Mask and Serum is a unique skincare product consisting of Type 1 collagen where the telopeptides (the ends of the collagen strand) have been removed to prevent allergic reactions and create a smaller denser collagen molecule. Plus, it's been negatively ionized so that the positively charged aged skin surface creates an electrostatic phenomenon that propels the smaller collagen molecule into the basement layer of the skin. Once absorbed, PURIGENEX collagen not only increases the collagen density of the skin, but it also stimulates the fibroblasts to produce more collagen naturally.
In addition, after a couple of years of R&D, I created a cosmeceutical skin care regime of Age Reverse Serum, Age Defying Moisturizer and Advanced Lightening Therapy to be applied over the PURIGENEX collagen to help minimize discolorations, reduce oxidative stress, improve hydration, and nourish the skin.
