Cuyama Buckhorn, the mid-century-western roadside resort in New Cuyama, will be offering a curated weekend to celebrate and experience the celestial phenomenon of July’s full Buck Moon.
The destination is nestled in The Hidden Valley of Enchantment, a peaceful oasis in the Cuyama Valley filled with star-filled night skies. Originally established in 1952 as a roadside stop, the hotel features 21 comfortable rooms with vintage accents and custom-built furnishings.
This full Buck Moon received its name because of the summer season in which new antlers emerge from a buck’s forehead. Complete with healing experiences such as sound baths and a tea ceremony, the weekend is meant to ground and renew guests’ spirits as an ode to the unique full moon.
The recently revitalized resort makes for a relaxing getaway complete with a pool, sauna, bar, restaurant, coffee shop, fire pits (with nightly s'mores roasting, of course), a bocce ball court, and more. More than 80% of the property’s spaces are outdoors and the remote town of New Cuyama provides a scenic and quiet backdrop for each stay. There are spa add-ons available for extra R+R such as the Sip & Soak, which comes with wine and everything you need for an in-room soothing foot soak treatment.
