Curl Rehab’s Products Are a Blessing for the Curly Community

My hair before using Curl Rehab.

I love being part of the curly community. My hair makes me unique and helps shape my identity. However, at times it can be tough to take care of — especially with managing a dry and flaky scalp.

Luckily, I had the opportunity to try Curl Rehab’s Scalp Care Treatment, which has aided my haircare routine significantly. The products included a Cooling Oil Treatment, Revitalizing Mask, and a 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner.

Curl Rehab launched in 2021, specializing in affordable products for curly-haired consumers. The products are designed to help all types of curly hair for all ethnicities and feature natural ingredients that are beneficial for the environment.

I was nervous and excited about trying the products. It’s been hard to find products that aid with scalp care, especially those that are made with healthy ingredients. However, Curl Rehab strives to keep hair healthy through what they do and don’t put in their products. Their products are vegan, 100% biodegradable, and are free of parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum and sulfates.

Curl Rehab products address the unique needs of curly hair and are formulated with natural ingredients that are beneficial for the environment.

First I tried the masks. The 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner, Cooling Oil Treatment and Revitalizing Mask are scented with tea tree oil and green tea. Tea tree oil combined with a mixture of herbal extracts helps with soothing and conditioning a dry scalp. It also calms the scalp and keeps it nourished.

The Cooling Oil Treatment & Revitalizing Mask have antioxidants that deep condition while soothing the scalp and adding moisture. The Cooling Oil Treatment and Revitalizing Mask are meant to be used together.

The Tea Tree Cooling Oil Treatment & Green Tea Renewing Mask cost $4.99 (24 packets) and the 2-in-1 Shampoo Conditioner retails for $6.49 (16 oz).

The masks come in four options:

●      Pre-Shampoo Treatment for flaky scalp

●      Conditioning Treatment for dry scalp

●      Deep Treatment for dry, flaky scalp

●      Leave-In Treatment

Curl Rehab’s Tea Tree Oil & Green Tea Renewing Mask are a dual treatment that soothes dry, flaky scalps.

Starting with the pre-shampoo treatment, here are the steps I followed:

  1. Heat a small amount of tea tree oil (not in a microwave).

  2. Massage oil into scalp and leave in for five minutes.

  3. Shower and shampoo.

  4. Apply green tea oil from roots to tips. Leave in for one minute.

  5. Shower and continue with your normal routine.

Coming out of the shower, my hair felt firm with a defined shape. I didn’t warm the packet, but it still worked well. I brushed my hair with my hands and didn’t need to use a hairbrush. I normally brush my hair after a shower, which defines its shape for the day but gets frizzy after a few hours. I let my hair dry naturally and was very pleased with the result.

The next day, I checked to see if I had any dandruff. It was significantly reduced, which made me happy. I’m sure it would also be a joy to my hairdressers who have always complain about my dry, flaky scalp!

I also enjoyed using the 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner Treatment. Not only was there less dandruff after using it, but my hair was very easy to brush.

Curl Rehab’s Tea Tree Oil & Green Tea 2-in-1 Shampoo Conditioner cools and revitalizes itchy scalps.

I’m glad Curl Rehab understands the dilemmas the curly community faces in hair care. I’m even more ecstatic that it provides hair care with ingredients that aren’t harmful.

There are many people that can benefit from Curl Rehab’s products. According to the site Naturally Curly, an estimated 65% of the U.S. population has curly, coily or wavy hair. Even though this is the case, general market products don’t meet the demands of care for these hair types.

The 8th edition of TextureTrends from Naturally Curly, which was published in 2019, surveyed 2,000 consumers with different hair types, including straight and chemically relaxed. 63% of curly-haired respondents said they were willing to spend $25 or more on a single hair product, which makes them more likely than other hair types to spend on products.

In fact, curly consumers spend the most on products per year at an average of $247, compared to naturally straight-haired consumers who spend $139 and chemically relaxed at $120.

I try to make the best of general brands, but it never seems to work. It either leaves me with dry or frizzy hair, which are the top fears of curly consumers — and it’s only growing. The TextureTrends survey stated that 68% of curly consumers feared frizz, which is up from 58% in 2017, and dryness was the fear of 58% of respondents, which increased from 22% in 2017.
