DSRT Surf Resort Will Bring Surfing to Palm Desert in 2026

Construction has begun on DSRT Surf Resort in Palm Desert, a 92-key hotel that will offer man-made surf waves to the public.

Surfing may have seemed impossible in the desert—until now.

The highly-anticipated DSRT Surf Resort in Palm Desert, CA will offer man-made surf waves to the public. It is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in Spring 2026.

Designed by AO, an architecture and interior design firm, and developed by Beach Street Development & Operations, the 17-acre property will include a cutting-edge surf lagoon; four-story, 92-key hotel; surf center, restaurant, boardwalk, and beaches.

At the heart of the resort will be an expansive 5-acre lagoon featuring a distinctive triangular shape and powered by Wavegarden Cove technology. The surf lagoon will be able to accommodate up to 80 surfers at one time and will offer consistent and customizable waves for all skill levels.

The resort’s design will feature a blend of contemporary and mid-century modern elements, highlighted by wave-inspired roofs and clean lines, inspired by the desert surroundings. Stone, metal panels, and wood accents will add texture and color, while extensive glazing will provide panoramic views of the lagoon and the desert landscape.

On May 23, the developers, architectural and design firm AO, and city/community stakeholders celebrated the project with a groundbreaking ceremony

Sustainability will be a key focus of the development, which will include repurposed turf areas from Desert Willow’s golf courses. The lagoon will achieve net zero water use, effectively maintaining the lagoon’s vitality and offsetting water usage, saving over 10 million gallons of water annually. A significant portion of the lagoon’s water will be used to responsibly irrigate the surrounding greenery and courses, demonstrating the team’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

On May 23, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the construction site for the resort and was attended by the development and design team, special guests and key stakeholders from the city and community.
