The New Cleaning Protocols: The resort’s mission is to cultivate a community that balances the wellness-forward lifestyle with lakefront luxury. While welcoming guests back to the resort, Edgewood aims to provide the relaxation and peace of mind that guests are used to experiencing.

"We have been able to retain and pay our staff through our downtime, uniquely positioning us to relaunch with our dedicated, original team that has been trained on the resort's new cleaning protocols—an integral piece of the puzzle to help us ensure our guests have the exceptional experience they have come to expect from Edgewood Tahoe," says General Manager Corinna Osborne.

Fun and Distanced Activities: Quintessential communal amenities, such as the evening s'mores cart, have been updated to ensure safety and physical distancing while still delivering the four-star luxury service guests expect—with individually wrapped s'mores packages. Guests will also receive a welcome amenity that includes a custom face mask, hand sanitizer and wipes for additional on-the-go safety.

Once on property, guests will be able to partake in the popular Star Tours series, immersed in the starry skies above, or to cozy up by the firepits for caricatures, ukulele lessons, or evening s'mores featuring a periodic drop-in from a local Mark Twain impersonator regaling guests with tales of escapades in the Sierra.

Dining: Edgewood Tahoe's restaurants and bars will reduce seating capacities to allow for a minimum of six feet between each seated group of guests, with dining available on a reservation-only basis. The Bistro was the resort's first dining concept to reopen on property, welcoming guests with reservations beginning May 12 with a robust menu of signature offerings. Spa Edgewood's salon will reopen with the Lodge on May 15 with strict capacity and health measures in-place for the safety of staff and guests.

Wellness Offerings: The Lodge at Edgewood will re-introduce its daily mountain morning yoga in June with outdoor programming that takes advantage of the resort's 235-acre wooded bastion.

Spa Edgewood’s “Hands-Off” Services: Spa Edgewood will reopen once requirements from State and Federal Authorities, including the Nevada Board of Cosmetology, are received and implemented. In the interim, the team at Spa Edgewood is curating a menu of "hands-off" services, including a Reiki Energy Healing experience—a touchless method of spiritual healing and self-improvement, as well as a self-guided Hypervolt Massage—also a touchless experience where master therapists guide a client through massage techniques using the Hypervolt technology to alleviate sore muscles and relax away tension.

Summer/Fall rates start from $449/$329 per night respectively. Additional information and packages are available at the property's newly reimagined and designed website edgewoodtahoe.com.

Self-Care Tip from Courtney Larson, Lead Massage Therapist at Spa Edgewood: In times of struggle it’s important to get back to the root of our being and support our foundational whole. Although challenging and uncertain, the current state of affairs has presented a significant opportunity to do so. Many of us have a day-to-day landscape that is composed of a stacked calendar. Even so, we are always trying to find space to add even more to this agenda. Because of this, it’s our social norm to spin like human tops at an exponential rate.

Let this be an opportunity to take a few steps back and prioritize those tasks that are truly important to your individual daily balance and shed those that are not. One of the very best ways to create space in your schedule is to cultivate some routine. In this routine, there needs to be time for self-awareness and grounding. If this is done daily, you would be amazed how much easier it is to face challenges such as those on a global scale now, and personal challenges that ebb and flow with the nature of simply being human.

What is derived from having that grounded mental, emotional, physical, behavioral and spiritual state of being is the capacity to manage familial, social and universal stressors that may arise. The ancient medical science of Ayurveda fosters a daily routine sequence called dynacharya (deh-nah-chari-uh) as part of their philosophy. Below is a list of ideas of how to create a stable daily routine, similar to the structure of dinacharya. You will notice a repetitive pattern:

      • Sleep

      • Eliminate

      • Hygiene

      • Hydrate

      • Movement

      • Meditate

      • Nutrition

      • Nature

Although the list does get more Ayurvedic in the practices as the levels progress, it is designed specifically in level one as a guide to bring awareness to self-care routines and to be easily applied to your daily life, even without knowing a thing about Ayurveda.

Create an Edgewood-Inspired DIY Alpine Mountain Scrub: For a DIY post-winter exfoliation while at home, Spa Edgewood's Spa Manager Whitney Tabor created an Alpine Mountain Scrub which makes use of pine needles that are both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. For the essential oils, here is Whitney's tip:

"I love Naturopathica's Inspire Aromatic Alchemy. The mix of balsam fir needles, juicy pink grapefruit, red mandarin, and mood-balancing St. John’s Wort encourage self-confidence and ground the emotions!"

Alpine Mountain Scrub Recipe

  • 12 drops of Essential Oil* (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons Freshly Chopped Pine Needles (optional)

  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil

  • 1/2 cup Coconut Oil
