Facial Treatment Review: We Tried the Geneo Glo2Facial at Timeless Aesthetics
While rainy days often make one want to stay inside, one of my favorite things to do on a rainy day is to get a facial. Being tucked under a blanket in a warm treatment bed while having someone care for my skin is the ultimate cozy experience, and I had one of the best cozy rainy day facials when I visited Timeless Aesthetics in Pasadena, CA.
California Spa Guide: The Best Spas in Pasadena
Owned by Christy Puente, a longtime esthetician and skincare expert, the boutique skincare studio is located on South Lake Avenue, which is a trendy part of Pasadena that has some of the city’s best restaurants, shops, and more spanning a 12-block stretch.
Her studio is in the historic Burlington Arcade, which was built as a replica of the historic London mall and even has a red telephone box. It’s filled with various cute businesses including a plant and flower store and Float—a sandwich, coffee, and ice cream shop. There are outside tables and chairs where you can sit down to enjoy a snack while taking in the scenery.
Here’s what you’ll love about Timeless Aesthetics:
The cozy boutique skincare studio is located inside Pasadena historic Burlington Arcade on South Lake Avenue, and within walking distance to the area’s best shops, restaurants, and attractions.
The spacious yet cozy studio is located on the second floor and has a sitting area in addition to a cozy nook with comfy pillows. It offers views of the arcade’s central area below, making it the perfect spot to people watch or relax with a book.
Owner Christy Puente is a longtime esthetician/skincare expert who is oncology certified and has extensive experience working in the medical industry so she knows everything related to skin health, treating various skin issues including melasma and hyperpigmentation, sharing product recommendations, and more.
Timeless Aesthetics offers a wide variety of results-driven facials and cutting-edge skincare treatments that feature state-of-the-art technology ranging from CryoSkin Facials and the Geneo Glo2Facial to dermaplaning and non-ablative fractional skin resurfacing with Tixel. In addition to skincare services, Puente offers beauty services including Yumilashes Keratin Lash Lifts for gorgeous lifted lashes.
Puente also recommends and carries some of the best skincare products in her retail area from premium professional brands like Le Mieux and skinbetter science so that her clients can continue to see improvements in their skin after every appointment.
Every treatment that Puente provides is customized according the individual needs of each client, so no two services are exactly alike. Most facials range from $159 to $250 because Puente takes the time to examine and assess clients’ skin before putting together a personal treatment plan in order to achieve the best results.
If you’re in need of lymphatic drainage during your visit, Puente also offers the Ballancer Pro as an add-on to your treatment. The FDA-cleared compression therapy system offers numerous benefits which include detoxing and removing excess fluids from the body’s tissues.
As a dog lover and owner herself, Puente welcomes pets into her studio (in case you feel bad about leaving Fido at home during your treatment!)
There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the Burlington Arcade (in addition to metered spots out front). Timeless Aesthetics is located on the second floor of the arcade and is right above a plant and flower shop and Float—a cute sandwich, coffee, and ice cream shop (perfect for a post-facial treat!)
After you go in through the door between the two businesses, you’ll come to a set of stairs that lead up to the second floor where Puente’s studio is hidden away from view (also making it a great place for high-profile and VIP clients who want complete privacy without being seen by anyone).
The entire setting is very quiet and private, which makes it the perfect place to enjoy a facial without outside noises or distractions. Once I entered Puente’s light-filled studio, which has a comfortable lounge area with a couch and a separate private treatment room, I instantly felt calm and relaxed.
There’s also a cozy bay window with comfy pillows and blankets where you can relax before or after your treatment. The big glass windows offer views of the downstairs area in the arcade, making in the perfect spot to people watch or curl up with a book.
With her extensive background working in the medical industry and her oncology certification, Puente is extremely knowledgeable about all types of skin issues and conditions and how to best treat them.
From dryness and melasma to hyperpigmentation and sensitive skin from radiation treatments, she will take the time to assess each client’s skin to come up with the best treatment plan for their individual skin needs along with product recommendations to maintain and continue to improve their skin between appointments.
When it comes to pricing, most facials at Timeless Aesthetics costs anywhere between $159 to $250 (the Geneo Glo2Facial costs $225) because Puente puts together a customized treatment plan for every client upon seeing them in person. She was very friendly and instantly made me feel at home—I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her.
As a dog mom herself, she even welcomes clients’ pets into the studio if they don’t want to leave them at home. The cozy window nook with pillows and furry blankets is the perfect napping spot for four-legged friends while you get your facial!
During this visit I experienced the Glo2Facial by Geneo, which is often referred to as the “Facial of the Future.” It’s also a favorite among numerous celebs such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Kravitz for its ability to instantly make skin glow and red carpet-ready.
The advanced non-invasive treatment combines three technologies together for maximum results:
Skin is gently exfoliated with Glo2Facial OxyPods, which create a bubbly, CO2-rich environment on the skin’s surface, causing the body to respond by sending more oxygen to skin which nourishes and transforms skin from the inside out.
Skin is smoothed with a Lite Ultrasound experience, which creates micro vibrations that instantly smooth skin and increase its permeability to allow for better nutrient absorption from the Geneo Serums.
A hands-free lymphatic massage is performed on the face to reduce redness and puffiness while infusing active ingredients deeper into the skin.
Designed to target and treat various skincare concerns, the Geneo Glo2Facial is great for all skin types and is available in six different customization options:
Balance: For oily and acne-prone skin, Geneo Balance removes dirt and impurities, fights acne, and minimizes oil production. The OxyPod contains bamboo charcoal, camu-camu extract, and mandelic acid, and vitamin C. Serum ingredients include *Geneo Oil Complex, frankincense, honey extract, rice bran extract, and salicylic acid.
Detox: Ideal for irritated skin and skin that is frequently exposed to environment factors like pollution, Geneo Detox treats and protects skin. The OxyPod contains calamine, green tea extract, plant fiber, and cellulose. Serum ingredients include marula oil, sea whip extract, white water lily extract, vitamin E, and *Geneo Oil Complex.
Glam: To prevent and reduce early signs of aging, Geneo Glam improves skin elasticity, increases moisture, and enhances collagen regeneration. The OxyPod contains silk powder, 24K gold, copper peptides, and colloidal silver. Serum ingredients include grapeseed oil, marula oil, rosehip oil, Voluform, and *Geneo Oil Complex.
Hydrate: For dull, dry skin, Geneo Hydrate helps to strengthen the skin barrier, improves moisture retention, and enhances hydration and firmness. The OxyPod contains blue spirulina, niacinamide, tiger grass, swertia chirata extract, and pennywort. Serum ingredients include hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), horsetail, marula oil, vitamin B5, and *Geneo Oil Complex.
Illuminate: Geneo Illuminate treats and reduces hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone for a smoother complexion. The OxyPod contains carrot extract, kojic acid, aurburtin, vitamin C, and prickly pear. Serum ingredients include boldo tree bark, naringin, flavanone, vitamin B5, vitamin E, and *Geneo Oil Complex.
Revive: Best for those with mature skin, Geneo Revive reduces fine lines, improves texture, and smoothes skin’s overall appearance. The OxyPod contains caffeic acid, red algae, ferulic acid, and retinol. Serum ingredients include edelweiss, palmitoyl tripeptides, vitamin E, vanilla extract, and *Geneo Oil Complex.
To give my skin a boost of glow and hydration, Puente used the Geneo Glam on me. (Um, gold flakes on my skin? Sign me up!) She started by cleansing my face, applying the Geneo Primer Gel, then exfoliated with the Glam OxyPod, which she inserted onto the tip of the applicator wand which was attached to the machine.
Key ingredients in the OxyPod include contain gold flakes to increase skin elasticity and prevent collagen loss to plump, lift, and firm skin; silk amino acids to strengthen my barrier, moisturize, and speed up cell function; and copper, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that softens fine lines, inhibits damage from pollutants and stressors, synthesizes collagen, and treats scarring and pigmentation.
She proceeded to move the wand with the Glam OxyPod across my entire face, removing dead skin cells and flooding my skin with oxygen. When she was done with that step, she held up a small mirror so that I could see what my skin looked like—it looked like I had a bright and bubbly gold face mask on!
Next, using the ultrasound she infused my skin with the Glam Serum, which featured a powerful combo of skin-hydrating (and firming) ingredients including grapeseed oil, hyaluronic acid, marula oil, rosehip oil, shea butter, and Voluform.
My favorite part of the experience was the final step, which was the lymphatic drainage massage also using the ultrasound. It felt cool and refreshing against my skin, visibly depuffing it while also enhancing absorption of the skincare ingredients.
As a bonus, Puente added the BallancerPro to my treatment (she offers it as an add-on for clients), which is an FDA cleared lymphatic drainage massage technology system. It resembled a pair of oversized pants, and once I slipped in, Puente zipped it up for a snug fit before turning it on so that it inflated around me to induce compression, allowing it to work its magic during my facial.
The BallancerPro offers numerous benefits as it gently massages the lymphatic system, which include improved circulation and lymphatic flow to reduce inflammation, help with pain relief, drain excess fluids and remove toxins from the body’s tissues, stimulate the immune system, and decrease stress.
Afterwards I felt lighter, more relaxed, and my skin was smooth and glowing. There was absolutely no redness or irritation—now I understand why the Geneo Glo2Facial is the perfect skincare treatment for the red carpet and other events!
Before I left, Puente also shared a few mini product samples with me from professional biotech-based skincare brand skinbetter science to take home and try. In her retail area she carries products from them as well as Le Mieux, another well-known skincare brand that is carried in many spas and physician’s offices.
Beauty Boss: Janel Luu, CEO, Founder and Formulator of Le Mieux Cosmetics
I really enjoyed the experience and am interested in coming back to Timeless Aesthetics again to try the Geneo Hydrate, along with Puente’s newest offering: Tixel, a highly-customizable fractional skin resurfacing device with minimal downtime that uses proprietary targeted heat to rejuvenate skin by stimulating new collagen.
It’s great for a variety of skin issues including texture and tone, stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines, melasma and hyperpigmentation, as well as rosacea. Stay tuned for a future review on the Tixel procedure and its results!
Cost: Geneo Glo2Facial ($225). Other facials range from $159 to $250 as every treatment is customized according to individual needs therefore prices will vary.
