Holiday Lip Tips from SOOO GOOD

A classic beauty staple, red lipstick is always in fashion—especially during the holiday season. A bold red lip is the perfect way to add glam to any look for any occasion, not to mention that there’s a shade of red for everyone. In other words, you can never go wrong by going red.

We chatted with pro makeup artist and makeup educator Maria Angelic Korompis (@mariaangelicmakeup), who is also an ambassador for SOOO GOOD Cosmetics—a cruelty-free line of vegan lip products that complement all skin tones. Enriched with the highest quality Italian ingredients and moisturizers, the lemon-tip applicator allows for even distribution and precise lines. What’s more, their lippies come in a variety of stunning shades (including the perfect red), and are available in both matte and glossy finishes.

When it comes to choosing a red lippie for that special holiday event, Korompis advises, “Pay attention to the undertone of your skin, which is best identified on the inside of your wrist, as well as the undertone of the red lippie. If you have pink or cool undertones, reach for a blue-based red. If your skin is warmer, reach for an orange red lipstick with an orange undertones.”

Here, she shares her top holiday lip tips to help you achieve the perfect pout:

1. Line the lip first with the smooth tip applicator, paying special attention to where the lips meet. Fill in the lip from there, allowing even strokes of color to dry thoroughly for best results.

2. During the holidays we tend to eat and drink more often, which means that the center of your matte liquid lip will wear more quickly than the outer edges. For the fastest touch-up that won’t add excess color that can pill or settle in the deep crease lines of your lips, apply 3-4 dots on the bottom lip where color has worn away. Gently press lips together to fill in.

3. To layer lip gloss on top of a matte lip, don’t apply with the applicator or the matte color will transfer. Instead, apply a swipe of the gloss to the back of your hand and use your finger to dab it on the top and bottom lip before gently pressing your lips together. The result won’t change the matte color on the bottom and instead simply adds a glossy layer!
