I Tried the KNESKO Gold Repair Firming and Lifting Facial at The Maybourne Beverly Hills — Here's What It Did for My Skin
The Spa at The Maybourne Beverly Hills is a 20,000-square-foot wellness oasis spread across two floors.
After returning home from an incredible trip to South Africa, my skin was in better shape than one would expect after a 20+ hour flight, which I credit to the facial I had literally a few hours before stepping foot on the plane.
But after jumping back into my regular routine and exposing my skin to the sun’s UV rays and dry Southern California heat along with other environmental aggressors, my skin was in need of some loving care, so I headed to The Spa at The Maybourne Beverly Hills, which had recently added several KNESKO Gold Skincare treatments to its menu of offerings.
Spa Profile: The Spa at The Maybourne Beverly Hills
As a longtime KNESKO fan who is obsessed with the brand’s famous collagen masks infused with energy from gemstones, I was especially excited to try the Gold Repair Firming & Lifting Facial, which is designed to help visibly firm, lift, repair, and hydrate skin on a deeper level.
I was equally excited to visit The Spa at The Maybourne as I had never been before and I was looking forward to experiencing all of the amenities, including a unique feature that isn’t found at most spas: a magnesium-infused mineral pool.
Works by contemporary California-based artists and photographers are on display throughout the spa.
Upon my arrival, I was given a tour of the spa and was immediately impressed by its size, which spans 20,000 square feet and is spread across two floors. It had separate men’s and women’s amenities (including relaxation lounges, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs) as well as a co-ed relaxation area around the mineral pool, which is at the center of the spa.
When checking in, I was able to catch a glimpse of the mineral pool through large glass windows behind the reception area. Doors also led out to an upper veranda area that overlooked the pool and connected to the rest of the spa.
The walls of the spa were decorated with a collection of artworks and photographs by contemporary California-based artists and photographers that perfectly captured the essence of the Golden State and Los Angeles including tall palm trees set against colorful skies.
When I opened my locker, I was greeted by a thoughtful welcome note from the spa team which was such a nice touch, along with a comfortable robe, plush slippers, and a towel.
A thoughtful welcome note awaited me in my locker along with a comfy robe, towel, and slippers.
After changing into a swimsuit and putting on my robe, I headed over to the women’s relaxation lounge, which had multiple loungers outfitted with cozy blankets and side tables with individual lights. Directly across from the loungers was a large daybed-style sitting area with curtains that could be drawn for added privacy.
Various magazines were on hand for reading along with an assortment of books on the shelves. Refreshments included a selection of teas and infused water, as well as gluten-free blueberry muffins, pistachio cookies, and Aussie Bites made with rolled oats, flaxseed, honey, coconut, and quinoa.
I enjoyed a variety of snacks and infused water in the women’s relaxation lounge.
The relaxation lounge also has a daybed-style sitting area that can be closed off with curtains for added privacy.
On the other end of the large locker room was a sauna, steam room, and hot tub, offering additional space for relaxation before and after treatments.
The men’s side of the spa has its own set of the same amenities, and for the couples who want to spa together, the co-ed mineral swimming pool is the perfect place to do that.
The ladies’ side of the spa includes a sauna, steam room, and hot tub.
Next to the fireplace in the women’s relaxation lounge was a door that led out to the co-ed area, which could be accessed via stairs or elevator. Before heading down to soak in the mineral pool, I had to pause for a moment and take in the view from above.
Bathed in natural light via Moorish-style glass skylights and ornate mosaic tile work, the pool reminded me of the thermal baths I visited during a previous trip to Budapest, Hungary.
There is abundant space for relaxation around the mineral pool, including several sitting areas and plush, sofa-like loungers/private daybeds with curtains for added privacy.
Soaking in the 100-degree waters helped soothe my sore muscles, which are always tight after long plane rides. It’s also a great way to relax right before getting a spa treatment, which always enhances the experience.
One of the spa’s main highlights is a co-ed magnesium-infused mineral pool featuring beautiful tile work.
The mineral pool reminded me of the historic thermal baths I previously visited in Budapest, Hungary.
After spending about 15 minutes in the mineral pool, it was time for my facial. My therapist came out to greet me and led me down a tranquil, dimly lit hallway where all the treatment rooms were located.
My treatment room was illuminated by a Moroccan-style lantern with an intricate pattern that reflected on the walls and ceiling, further adding to the relaxed ambiance.
I experienced the 60-minute KNESKO Gold Repair Firming & Lifting Facial, which is designed to firm, lift, repair, and deeply hydrate skin.
Prior to starting the treatment, my therapist had laid out all of KNESKO’s collagen face masks on the counter so that I could choose one for my facial. I’ve tried all of the masks and each one has its own unique benefits, but since today’s facial was all about the Gold Repair skincare line, I opted for the Gold Repair Collagen Face Mask.
My therapist then stepped out of the room so that I could get under the covers of the treatment bed, which had been lightly warmed — just enough to relax me without being too hot. The treatment incorporated the newly-launched Gold Repair skincare line, which consists of eight products that feature KNESKO’s G-PBX Technology, a combination of gold, plant stem cells, bioactive peptides, and pro-collagen actives that hydrate and nourish skin while restoring luminosity.
As a clean beauty brand, KNESKO’s product formulas are free of silicones and fragrances, and are sustainable and cruelty-free as well. My skin is quite sensitive to a lot of products but I’ve always had a positive reaction to KNESKO’s products and have noticed that my skin noticeably improves when I used them consistently. Aside from the collagen masks, their gemstone-infused serums are another skincare essential of mine.
To start the facial, she began with a double cleanse — first using the Cleansing Balm, which felt velvety and super luxurious as she gently massaged it into my skin to dissolve excess oil and makeup, followed by the Cleanser, a cleansing milk that purifies skin without stripping it. It gently removes buildup with a combination of gentle PHAs and fruit-derived AHAs, which renew and brighten skin’s appearance.
KNESKO’s Mask Meditations combine gemstone-infused collagen masks with guided audio sessions by founder Lejla Cas.
She used the Exfoliator to resurface my skin, and I was pleasantly surprised by how gentle yet effective it was. It polishes the surface of skin and removes dead cells with alumina crystals while lactic acid and more fruit-derived AHAs smooth and brighten.
Another unique aspect of the facial is the guided meditation, which lasted 15 minutes and took place while I was wearing the collagen face mask. After my therapist had placed the mask over my skin, she put a set of headphones over my ears and I drifted away into a state of dreamy bliss as I listened to the relaxing meditation narrated by KNESKO founder Lejla Cas (who is also a certified Reiki master).
The meditation session was also infused with Reiki energy and scientifically-tuned audio technologies using Alpha and Theta brainwave frequencies, binaural beats, and a 528 Hz “love frequency” for ultimate relaxation and transformation.
During the meditation session, my therapist also performed a neck and shoulder massage, then once the meditation had finished and she removed the collagen mask, she performed a relaxing facial massage while layering the Face Oil and Light Cream, finishing off with the Eye Cream under my eyes. The skincare line also includes a Sunscreen as well, which my therapist offered to apply at the end.
I was also given the mantra card that came with my collagen mask to take home, and I’ve been keeping it on my desk whenever I need some positive reinforcement.
My Gold Repair Mask Meditation included a small card with a positive mantra that I took home with me after my treatment.
After my facial, my skin glowed for several weeks and felt incredibly hydrated and nourished, even in the summer heat. I also have been using the Gold Repair skincare line at home, and it’s been such a great addition to my skincare regimen.
I especially love the combination of the Cleansing Balm and Cleanser, followed by the Exfoliator one to two times a week. The products do a great job of cleansing my skin and I haven’t noticed any buildup or dullness, so I can tell they’re working. I’m really glad that KNESKO launched this line to complement their collagen masks, serums, and body care line — KNESKO definitely struck gold with the Gold Repair Skincare Line and the Gold Skincare treatments.
Speaking of treatments, aside from the facial, KNESKO also offers a Gold Repair Firming & Lifting Massage (60 minutes) and a Gold Repair Firming & Lifting Body Treatment (90 minutes). The Facial is available in both 60 and 90-minute treatments.
I definitely look forward to going back and trying both soon, and KNESKO is continuing to roll out its Gold Skincare spa treatments at other spas so be sure to follow them to find a provider near you.
The KNESKO Gold Repair line is available for purchase in the spa gift shop.
