With a population of less than 400,000 people, you might be surprised that Wichita, Kansas (often referred to as Ta-Town or Cowtown by some folks) is home to a booming wellness scene. A 3-hour drive from Kansas City, Wichita is the state’s largest and most visited city with more than 50 museums and attractions, the country’s seventh largest zoo, and one of the most photographed attractions—the 44-foot Keeper of the Plains sculpture, showcasing the city’s Native American culture and history.

As connoisseurs of spas and wellness centers, we strive to discover the gems in otherwise overlooked spots. And what U.S. region is more overlooked than the Midwest? After all, they’re often referred to as “fly over states.” But there’s a lot to love about that area, which is why we uncovered crown jewels in places such as Omaha, Nebraska and Madison, Wisconsin, among others.

Beau Monde Spa and Boutique

2939 N Rock Rd, Wichita, KS 67226; (316) 636-1214

For more than 30 years, Beau Monde Spa and Boutique has been the default for Wichita residents who want somewhere to unwind. The Wichita staple offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and waxing. Its menu also features makeup and hair services like keratin treatments, cuts, color, and styling.

The Sugar Scrub Massage is a must-try treatment. Because the therapist uses a body scrub while performing the massage, your skin will feel extra soft post-treatment. It also features the pleasant scent of eucalyptus for additional relaxation. Options like these make Beau Monde so popular that the spa is opening up a third location on the west side of Wichita. According to the Beau Monde West Spa website, it’s scheduled to open in June 2024.

The original location is on Rock Road. It’s open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note that the spa is closed on Sundays. You can schedule your appointment by calling the number above.

BeautyDot

1447 N Rock Rd, Suite 100, Wichita, KS 67206; (316) 350-4030

BeautyDot is a medical and day spa conveniently located a mile away from the Hilton Garden Inn, Nordstrom Rack, as well as local eateries and watering holes. With that in mind, it’s not hard to plan the perfect day of self-care, dining, and shopping when you stop by BeautyDot.

As far as medical services, the spa menu includes injectables like Botox and Juvéderm. It also offers chemical peels, dermaplaning, and microneedling. Among the non-medical treatments on the menu is the CryoFacial, a non-invasive treatment that “uses cold temperatures to increase blood flow and oxygen, which boosts collagen production, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and pores, and improves skin elasticity.”

To book your appointment at BeautyDot, call the number above. Keep in mind the spa’s business hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. BeautyDot is closed on Sundays.

Bohemia Healing Spa

611 W Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67213; (316) 262-7888

Bohemia Healing Spa has two locations—one in east Wichita (which is also a med spa) and the other in the Delano area. Both menus include classic options like therapeutic massages, facials, body treatments, and hair removal.

A unique treatment to try is the Reiki Balancing Facial, which aims to heal your skin and your soul with the added comfort, renewal, and balance of Reiki. The Honey Chardonnay Facial is another outstanding service that blends the healing properties of white wine extracts with the antimicrobial features of honey, leaving skin calm and balanced while increasing tightness in the skin.

The spa also offers vinotherapy, which taps into the “healing power of wine and grapes.” The menu has a wide variety of vinotherapy treatments ranging from a Crushed Grape Massage and a Cabernet Body Polish to a Wine and Honey Body Wrap.

Spa hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 6 p.m. Bohemia Healing Spa makes it convenient to book online—whether you’re going to the Delano or east location—but you can also call the number listed above to reserve your appointment.

Healing Waters Spa & Cosmetic Clinic

2000 N Rock Rd, Suite 100, Wichita, KS 67206; (316) 215-7604

The menu at Healing Waters Spa & Cosmetic Clinic includes typical spa services such as massages and facials, as well as med spa treatments like injectables, laser, and CoolSculpting. You can even get plastic surgery here—like pretty much any treatment from breast augmentation to face lifts and even rhinoplasty.

As you may have gleaned from its name, there are also healing services offered. Our favorite? IV therapy. The IV drips at Healing Waters are infused with vitamins that boost your body’s energy levels, improve immune system function, treat nutritional deficiencies, and provide anti-aging benefits. According to the spa, this is because “the vitamins and minerals are administered directly into your bloodstream,” which means that “your body can absorb and use them more effectively than oral supplements.”

Healing Waters is open daily Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can book your service online or by calling the number listed above.

Remedy Spa

3252 E Douglas Avenue, Suite 110, Wichita, KS 67208; (316) 252-3902

Remedy Spa has two locations—one in the famous Douglas Design District and the other second location on 119th Street. Both spa locations offer treatments including massages, facials, chemical peels, lash extensions, and lamination services.

One of their mroe cutting-edge treatments to try is Cold Stone Migraine Therapy. If you’re someone who has migraines, you know how taxing they are to deal with. With this treatment (which is available in 30, 45 and 60-minutes sessions), you can curb jaw issues as well as sinus pain.

Book your appointment online or by calling the 316 number provided above. And keep in mind that the spa is open Monday and Wednesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m.
