Keltie Knight Shares Her Beauty Secrets

Keltie Knight.

Keltie Knight.

I recently had the privilege of sitting down (virtually!) with Emmy award-winning, best-selling author, and celebrity hostess with the mostest, Keltie Knight. We chatted about everything from beauty products, filler, self-care, and philanthropy to coping with the year that is 2020.

I asked Knight how she made the transition from professional dancer to broadcasting and journalism to a career as an award-winning host and author. She started out as a ballerina and moved from her hometown to New York to pursue a career as a Rockette. She was one of the OG vloggers and starting posting behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube before it was even a thing. She then met her husband, Chris Knight, moved to Los Angeles, and the rest as they say is history.

She is currently a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and co-host of the LadyGang Podcast, which recently reached a milestone of 100 million downloads! Act Like a Lady, her book with co-hosts Becca Tobin and Jac Vanek, is a New York Times best-seller.

Whenever I sit down and interview someone, especially someone like Knight, selfishly the things I am most interested in are their favorite beauty products and beauty tips. Share the love, people!

Knight’s favorite beauty product: Weleda Skin Food. She describes herself as the ideal consumer, willing to try and buy all the products. She did, however, express a reluctance to change up her skincare regimen because if she has a breakout, millions of people are going to see it. She swears by Skin Food as part of her beauty routine and at under $20, it won’t break the bank.

Knight was recently one of the first people to try RHA Collection, a hyaluronic acid filler, and the latest advancement in HA science. Her advice for first timers: communicate and demand what’s best. When it comes to any type of injectable, the best thing you can do is educate yourself. Ask all the questions. Ask about the product, what to expect, and how to achieve the desired result. She emphasizes the importance of making clear your expectations and fears. Then, of course, do your own research and make sure you are going to an experienced doctor/injector. Knight had nothing but positive things to say about her experience with RHA Collection, and the results speak for themselves. She looks amazing.

2020 has been one heck of a year.  Knight explained how she has been managing and coping with the ups and downs of everyday life during a global pandemic. Her mantra:  “Be gentle with yourself.” Yes, we all know that we should exercise, eat vegetables, and drink lots of water. But sometimes. . .we don’t. And that’s okay. We all get on and off the wagon, but sometimes we just need to give ourselves some grace. Whether it’s taking a bubble bath, journaling, talking to your therapist, or all of the above – do what you need to do for you, and go easy on yourself in the process.

Social media is a big part of her life, and I had to know her thoughts on putting yourself out there, and her advice to those just starting out building their brand on Instagram and other platforms. It’s hard to see celebrities as real people with real feelings an emotions. Knight reminded me that even though people live these seemingly perfect lives, life is not always perfect.  No one and nothing is.  Everyone, including her, has good days, bad days and insecurities. She uses her Instagram feed as her own personal website with specifically curated content. Her stories, are an insight into her everyday life, and gives her followers a more up-close and personal look behind the scenes.

It's always nice to see celebrities giving back and getting involved in the community. We talked about different ways in which she is able to give back,  and causes the that are important to her in making a difference. One of the organizations that she supports is The Do You Fund, an organization that makes micro investments in Black and Latinx women entrepreneurs. Helping empower women entrepreneurs is something she can relate to. The LadyGang podcast started out as an idea with a small budget. Giving women micro loans to build their businesses can make all the difference on their path to success.  To celebrate the launch of the LadyGang clothing capsule collection in collaboration with Express, (Express x LadyGang... yet another one of her successful endeavors)  a donation was made directly to the Do You Fund.

Having the opportunity to spend some time with Knight was one of the highlights of 2020. She reminded me of the value of true female friendships, the power of women supporting other women, and the importance of being unapologetically yourself. And to top it all off…she was really nice!
