Located right next to Waikiki Beach in the Moana Surfrider Hotel, the Moana Lani Spa offers 18,000 square feet of spa and fitness space designed for renewal and relaxation. From peaceful relaxation lounges and water therapy areas to private oceanfront suites, guests can enjoy a series of Hawaiian-inspired treatments such as the traditional "Lomi Lomi Ola" massage to an energizing Mamaki Mud Wrap.
Each treatment room features a Koa wooden bowl filled with Alaea Hawaiian sea salt, which is known for its healing and restorative abilities. Each guest is invited to leave their worries at the door of the treatment room by placing their thoughts and energy in the "ho'awe" burden ball so that the salt can absorb what is being released. Once the treatment is over, the salt is placed into a collection bowl and thrown into the ocean at the end of the day, allowing the guest's troubles to be blessed and carried out to sea.
We had the chance to sit down with Brandon Claypool, Moana Lani's spa director, who took us behind-the-scenes of the stunning Hawaiian spa.

These cooling stones will draw out the heat of your physical and emotional stress, bringing in the radiant energy of these revered waters. This treatment begins by wrapping your legs and feet with an indigenous Hawaiian 'awa mud while the stones do their work on your back, neck and scalp, drawing out toxic tensions. A traditional lomi lomi massage relaxes you with our signature Hawaiian Olena body cream and connects you to the extraordinart energy of this place.
