The Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond resort, which is situated on more than 200 lush acres in San Diego’s coastal community of Carlsbad, is being designed by WATG, a firm based in Irvine, California that is behind other hospitality projects such as Nobu Los Cabos and Jinshuo Hotel.
The redesign will draw inspiration from the property’s coastal location and Pacific Ocean views, and is intended to celebrate the surrounding area’s natural landscape that includes rolling hills and 200 species of local plants and wildlife.
Park Hyatt’s 327 guest-rooms and suites will be reimagined to evoke a refined home-away-from-home style paired with the serene setting and laidback lifestyle of Carlsbad. The guest-rooms will also feature calming elements of coastal-inspired decor, tranquil colors reflecting the sand and sea, and artwork that reflects the resort’s natural surroundings.
The resort’s exterior areas will also undergo a landscaping refresh, along with the creation of an event lawn. All restaurants and bar outlets will undergo a renovation and rebranding, and a covered exterior terrace will be added so that guests can enjoy the beautiful sunsets anytime of year.
The enhanced adult pool area have new luxury cabanas, while the redesigned family pool will offer an interactive experience that includes a water play area and waterslides for children of all ages. With its renovation, the resort will also introduce updated fitness facilities, a golf course, clubhouse, and an enhanced Aviara Spa.
“The resort-wide updates offer a more contemporary California coastal design that celebrates our natural setting in a new way,” says Geoff Gray, Park Hyatt Aviara General Manager. “We are proud to evolve and grow this iconic resort while maintaining the same level of understated luxury and service at the highest standard that our guests have come to expect. This new design will set the stage for Park Hyatt Aviara as the premiere resort destination within Southern California.”
