The NOW Massage is a concept massage boutique that blends the quality services of a luxury massage destination with the convenience and affordability of a walk-in neighborhood spot. With four Southern California locations and more locations opening soon throughout the country, The NOW's goal is to provide a menu of high-quality and consistent massages in an elevated, tranquil setting.

At The NOW, guests can enjoy table massages, seated massages, and a wide variety of enhancements. Massages start at $45 for a 25-minute massage, $75 for a 50-minute massage, and $105 for an 80-minute massage. Enhancements ($10 each) include options such as scalp renewal, Gua Sha, a soothing eye mask, crystal healing, and deep tissue.

We caught up with Gara Post, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of The NOW Massage, for tips to help you get the most out of a visit and everything else you need to know about the popular massage destination.

Why you’ll love it: First and foremost, guests love the fact that we offer high-quality massage services at an affordable price in an inspired setting. Before we launched it felt like you had two options: high-priced hotel and day spas or walk-in massage spots that had no aesthetic. Our goal has always been to be an oasis in the city with a carefully crafted menu. Currently, guests can choose from three Swedish-based table massages and then add-on different enhancements to customize the experience. It’s everything you need to relax and recharge without the commitment or expense you would expect.

Key Features: We strive to make each massage boutique feel connected but unique in its own way. The themes are the same: sheepskin throws, a carefully placed cactus wall or plant gallery, and high whitewashed ceilings that echo the sounds of ocean waves on loop. We layer in different elements based on the location and the number of treatment rooms will vary depending on what the space will allow—on average we look to have 10 treatment rooms.

The interiors for The NOW are inspired by nature and from our travels to beachside locales around the world. We also incorporate natural elements where we can, since bringing nature indoors creates a soothing environment in high-traffic areas. We serve water infused with cucumber and lemon, and have a complete menu of enhancements that range from traditional options like Deep Tissue and Prenatal Glow, to the latest offerings in wellness such as Crystal Healing and Gua Sha—a traditional Chinese medicine tool used to treat tight spots and tired muscles.

Insider’s Tip: Each boutique features a custom crystal grid which can be used as an effective tool for many types of energy work. Not only can they help to set intentions, but many grids can also amplify, shift and direct our energy as well. One fun bit of information to note: our team strategically places crystals in the foundation of each boutique to set the tone and serve as a talisman of sorts for each new location.

Unique Treatment: We recently launched our Gua Sha enhancement, a traditional Chinese medicine technique, typically used for facial treatments. The NOW Massage was at the forefront of using Rose Quartz Gua Sha tools for body work which help to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage. We also sell the tool in our boutique as well for home use.

Luxurious Treatment: Two favorites are the Scalp Renewal enhancement, which includes a pure coconut oil scalp massage—for a hair treatment and calming sensation all in one. And our Fresh Eyes enhancement, where your massage therapist will place our custom Refresh Eye Patches under your eyes during your service. The cool, soothing Fresh Eyes formula is created to hydrate and tone dry skin, lessen fine lines and reduce puffiness. It’s great post-travel or when you haven’t been sleeping well. You’ll receive a powerful dose of protective antioxidants and potent anti-inflammatories to help revive tired dry eyes. We sell the Refresh Eye mask as well, so you can take it to use at home or on-the-go!

Memberships: Our philosophy in this fast-paced, digital society is that regular massage treatments are a necessity not a luxury, and we designed our membership program with that in mind. You can select from one of our packages “The Sanctuary Ritual” or “The Pampered Ritual,” which include monthly or bi-monthly massage services, gifts, and benefits like reduced pricing. There is no minimum commitment, as members can cancel anytime or roll over unused massages and share with friends and family.
