Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa Debuts First Renew Recovery Lounge in Coachella Valley
The Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California welcomed the newest addition to its on-site, 13,000-square-foot Spa Esmeralda in October: The Renew Recovery Lounge.

The new lounge complements the spa’s existing 11 indoor treatment rooms, eight treatment cabanas, one indoor couple’s suite, men’s and women’s steam rooms and relaxation lounges, and outdoor courtyard and whirlpool.
There is also a 24-hour, 4,643-square-foot fitness center featuring cardio and weight machines, free weights, and Peloton bikes.
“We wanted to incorporate a new age of wellness, enhancing our existing menu, by creating a co-ed space to focus on recovery for our busy travelers, athletes, and [other guests] that don’t always have the time for self-care,” says Katie Camerena, spa manager at the resort, of the new lounge.
“Guests can simply take off their shoes, sit back, relax, and let the wellness-tech experiences put them into recovery mode. This lounge is about taking time for yourself in your own private pod or with a group to focus on muscle and sleep recovery.”
The Renew Recovery Lounge is the first lounge of its kind dedicated to recovery services at a resort in the Coachella Valley, which is already a haven for active living and people visiting from all over the world for golf, tennis, hiking, and cycling. Thus, the need for pre- and post-recovery options has become a large draw for both visitors and locals.
Notable services at the lounge include the Well Rested CBD Soak, which combines a grounding infrared PEMF mat, the calming benefits of CBD, and a sleep-inducing facial massage via Smart Goggles—all to improve one’s overall sleep hygiene.

Camerena notes that the Athletic Recovery Massage became an immediate hit with visitors coming right in from the golf course; the treatment focuses on stretching and muscle relief with the incorporation of compression boots into the service.
If you’re looking to splurge, consider add-ons like the Red Light Face Mask, CBD wellness shot, or a Knesko collagen eye or face mask, all of which can be added to any treatment.
“These wellness-tech options can be experienced as an express service before any massage or body therapy,” Camerena adds. “Recovery services prepare the body to receive the full benefits of a massage and extend relaxation time. Our existing services and facilities already create a relaxing environment, so adding these services only upgrades the guest experience. Compression therapy reduces inflammation and provides enhanced blood flow and lymphatic circulation, this pairs beautifully with massage and body treatments such as our Desert Detox Mud Wrap.”
This lounge also broadens access to wellness for a wider audience, specifically those who would feel more comfortable not having to fully disrobe to enjoy a service. Guests could even continue working on their laptop while compression boots work their magic massaging away the stress of a long day.
“It’s for everyone, even if you’re not a ‘spa person,’” says Camerena. “It introduces self-care while still feeling like you had a full spa day.”
