Shopping My Stash: Week 2

A beauty addict’s commitment to being more mindful, less wasteful and nothing new in 2020.

Well, it’s officially been a week. So far, so good. Full disclosure: this challenge officially started Jan. 7 as I did buy a few things the first week of January. (Sephora gift cards FTW) But...no more. I’m committed.

There are definitely a few things that I’m already sad about not being able to repurchase, like my beloved Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lipliner in Pillow Talk. It might last the rest of the year, right?

It’s one of my favorites and really good—if you’re looking to splurge on a luxury item.

Salt New York Palette.

One of my favorite things in my makeup collection is my Salt New York Palette. Their palettes are sturdy and perfect for travel. They’re all about sustainable products and the palettes are vegan! I appreciate being able to support smaller businesses with a purpose. The good-sized mirror is an added bonus.

I currently have 24 eyeshadows in my palette—18 regular-sized pans and 6 smaller ones—which is more than enough to create any look imaginable. I like the idea of depotting my eyeshadows and having them all in one place. It’s also less packaging when you buy individual pans and put them in your own palette. I have the French Grey color and just love it. At the time I purchased mine (not this year!), the black was sold out. If I could, I would buy black one. At $35, it’s an investment for your makeup collection but won’t disappoint. I’ve been reaching for it a ton, trying to use up the shadows inside. It will definitely be coming with me on my upcoming vacation.

Ardell Naked Lashes.

The Ardell Naked Lashes are my not-so-new obsession. I don’t wear lashes THAT often, but when I do, these are the ones I want. They are very comfortable and I almost forget they’re there. Style #422 are my favorites, but they have different styles suitable for all different eye shapes. Luckily, I have a few pairs of these stashed in my collection. Fingers crossed, I have enough to last through 2020!

The challenge I’m not doing: how many times can you wear the same pair of lashes before giving yourself an eye infection. I typically feel comfortable reusing lashes 2-3 times, but with everything, use your best judgment.

Urban Decay Naked Concealer.

I was going through my concealer drawer and rediscovered by Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer.  It’s normal to have a drawer full of concealer, right? Don’t answer that. That’s why I’m doing this.

The Urban Decay Concealer is my favorite for under eyes. I’m not really sure why I stopped using it, other than I kept buying different ones to try. It’s creamy, blendable, and doesn’t crease on my oily/combination skin. It’s something I’m going to miss when I run out.

What I’ve been looking at that I wish I could buy/try:

Makeup Geek: New Eyeshadows

I’ve been a big fan of Makeup Geek and founder Marlena Stell since the beginning. Most of the shadows currently in my Salt New York palette are Makeup Geek. The line is going through a huge rebrand and their new products launched on Jan. 17.  If could, I’d be all over that. Sorry, Marlena!

Tati Beauty: Textured Neutral Palette

When it comes to beauty, Tati Westbrook knows what she’s doing.  She recently restocked her Textured Neutral Eyeshadow Palette and. . .I want. It looks so pretty and seems perfect for every day AND glam looks. I’ve heard the formula is amazing. It’s always nice to support woman CEOs. Who’s tried it? I want to know!

One week down, a year to go. . .eek! I’m actually really excited to see what else I can use and rediscover in my stash!  Until next week. . . XO
