Spa Review: An Oasis of Quirky Charm at Belize Boutique Resort and Spa
In an effort to escape rainy Los Angeles, we opted to ring in the New Year in Belize. Our first stop was an oasis of quirky charm and whimsical delights nestled in an isolated jungle about an hour north of Belize City International Airport. Upon arrival at the Belize Boutique Spa and Resort, we were greeted with fresh coconut water and given options to further personalize our experience.
Touring the property, we couldn’t help but notice an incredible attention to detail. Effortlessly woven into its surrounding vegetation, we found fun additions such as colorful lighting and ornate tile work embedded into the mineral pool, main pool, dining room and all over the resort’s winding pathways.
The Belize Boutique Spa and Resort is equipped with both an indoor and outdoor spa retreat setting, surrounded by the sights and sounds of a lush, green jungle. Spa products are made on-site with local indigenous plants, minerals, and other extractions found naturally in Belize.
Spa rooms are dedicated to couples massages, solo treatments, bachelorettes and birthday parties, facials, and spa manicures & pedicures. Each treatment room is artisanally designed and incorporates its surrounding jungle environment with thatched roofs, stone building materials, recycled bottles, and wood carvings from local artisans in neighboring villages.
The resort can arrange for a wide variety of activities in its surrounding areas, including a wide variety of tours from cave tubing and touring ancient Mayan ruins to horseback riding, and more. For our exhilarating day of adventure, we opted for ziplining through tree tops and floating in tubes through breathtakingly beautiful caves, a place from which ancient Mayans believed life originated.
We ended our day at the spa for the resort’s incredibly unique mud massage, where therapists use natural mud to detoxify the body, firm the skin, and draw out heat from the body. Different colored muds were added to stimulate the senses and the massage relaxed our sore muscles, improved blood circulation and oxygenation, and left our skin feeling silky smooth! After our massages, we rinsed off in outdoor baths before heading to the resort’s own mineral pool for a final dip under the stars.
The Belize Boutique Resort & Spa offers an off-the-grid, jungle-chic experience with all of the modern conveniences and full amenities…including coffee in bed (rain or shine!) and a gourmet menu featuring fresh, local ingredients. Most of all, co-owner Melanie and her entire team will go out of their way to personalize your experience during your entire stay.
We hope that you’ll visit a this free-spirited jungle resort and spa soon so that you, too, can restore your body, mind and soul in a truly unique, tropical atmosphere. As they say in Belize, No hurries! No worries!
