Sidecar Doughnuts' Apple Pan Pie Doughnut Is Our Current Fall Obsession — Here's Why You Need to Try It

As a big Sidecar Doughnuts fan, I’m always excited whenever they offer unique flavors (and couldn’t have been happier when the Pasadena location finally opened near my home!)
Just in time for the fall season, they’ve collaborated with iconic Los Angeles diner The Apple Pan to offer a limited-time doughnut inspired by The Apple Pan’s signature apple pie available through the end of December.
It features Sidecar’s classic brioche bullseye doughnut dipped in vanilla glaze, filled with warm apple compote made with real apple chunks, and is finished with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and buttery pie-crust crumbles.

To celebrate the launch, The Apple Pan recently hosted an in-person event where I got to try the doughnut firsthand — and let me tell you, it was incredible. As soon as I took the first bite, I already knew that I wanted to order an entire box. Dangerous!
It really captures the essence of fall and the cozy holiday traditions in each bite; there’s that familiar feeling of nostalgia that instantly takes me back to my Grandma’s kitchen and brings up some of my favorite memories of baking with her as a little kid.
What’s more, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hollywood Food Coalition in support of their Giving Tuesday event for every Apple Pan Pie Doughnut sold. If you’d like to contribute more, you can also give directly here.

You can also get your hands on a super cute vintage-inspired red-trimmed ringer tee from The Apple Pan, which has launched for a limited time. The front features their slogan “Quality Forever” while the back has a graphic that says “As Classic As It Gets.” A must have!
“When the idea of apple pie hit the table, we knew we had to go where they do pie best,” says Sumter Pendergrast Jr., founder of Sidecar Doughnuts. “Their dedication to doing simple things exceedingly well really resonates with our own ethos. It felt like the perfect partnership to create something that celebrates comfort, quality, and community during the season when those things mean the most.”
