Spa Review: We Tried Luminfusion, Dermalogica’s First-Ever Professional Device Treatment—and We’re Glowing!
Skin thirst has officially been quenched! My thoughts exactly after I walked out of Dermalogica’s flagship West Hollywood studio with just the right amount of dew for a Wednesday afternoon. After all, the brand does know what they are doing! I mean, they’ve got 35 years of skincare game in their corner.
For over three decades, Dermalogica has been at the forefront of ensuring clean healthy skin for all and bringing it to the masses in a vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free way. Every specific skin need is tackled with this brand, from combatting teenage and adult acne with their clearing cleansers, masks and serums to restoring health and glow with their best-selling biolumin-c vitamin c serum ($89).

But there is one thing their highly-trained skin therapists have never had the chance to offer in house until now (or actually until next year): a treatment with their own professional device.
New in 2023 is Dermalogica’s ProPen treatment: Luminfusion. It is a treatment that uses a nano-needling device that not only exfoliates but also infuses skin with Dermalogica’s yummy and youthful serums. It has four settings and six speeds that offer different levels of precision and penetration.
The best part? You won’t be walking out looking like a tomato! There is no downtime and minimal redness on the skin. The only thing that shows (or shall we say, glows) is instant, visible, smooth and shiny skin.
Kicking things off, your skin therapist will first give you a double cleansing, first using their precleanse cleansing oil ($47). By the way, if Taylor Swift’s song “Lavender Haze” had a scent, this would be it! Then a creamy cleanser to lock in hydration. After that, a lactic acid mask is applied to exfoliate skin with the help of the ProPen.
The sound of the device does seem a little intimidating, but once it hits your skin, it feels like a total facial massage. It doesn’t hurt and honestly, you can feel it removing every dead skin cell AND feel it open up every pore to receive the goopy goodness of the serums that were yet to come.
My skin therapist had created a skin cocktail of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and retinol, and infused it into my skin by also using a light ultrasonic device.
Then as an added bonus, they introduced the ProPen again and concentrated it with more of the biolumin-c pro serum to brighten some of my dark spots and smooth lines.

The treatment took no more than 60 minutes. After it was done, I was relaxed but my face felt ready to be seen. I couldn’t believe the glow on my face. It was plump, hydrated, smooth and full of brightness.
