Spa Review: We Tried the VSOTO Oxygen Infusion Facial at Ole Henriksen Face/Body Spa
There are many day spas in Los Angeles that claim a celebrity clientele. But there are few, if any, that can claim a more impressive roster of regular A-listers than the Ole Henriksen Face/Body Spa in West Hollywood, California.
The 14 Best Spas in West Hollywood
Founded in 1975 by skincare legend Ole Henriksen, the Sunset Strip spa with a discreet back entrance boasts a regular stream of high-profile celebs including Madonna, Halle Berry, Naomi Campbell and Charlize Theron, to name a few. Once you experience the level of service, innovative treatments and discerning luxury they offer, it’s easy to see why it’s a favorite for those who choose quality over glitzy smoke and mirrors.
Here’s what you’ll love about Ole Henriksen Face/Body Spa:
Located in West Hollywood, the spa was founded by the world’s first celebrity facialist Ole Henriksen, the creator of OLEHENRIKSEN Skincare.
OLEHENRIKSEN products feature transformative formulas with touchable textures and indulgent scents so you can create a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home.
The brand has many high-profile celebs that are fans including Madonna, Halle Berry, Naomi Campbell and Charlize Theron, and the spa is a favorite among A-listers.
Now owned by spa executive extraordinaire Vance Soto, the renowned spa is home to the most state-of-the-art technology and treatments for complete skin, mind and body transformations.
The spa is known for its results-driven facials and treatments including the Red Carpet Facial, which is one of the most popular in the city for pre-awards primping.
The menu also features luxurious packages that include bathing rituals and more for the ultimate pampering experience.
Amenities include separate men’s and women’s changing areas, showers, a co-ed eucalyptus steam room, meditation room, and a couple’s suite for massages with a soaking tub.
Known for their plant-based products and facial treatments, the luxury spa was already an iconic destination when spa executive extraordinaire Vance Soto took over nearly 10 years ago. Not one to sit on his laurels or anyone else’s for that matter, Soto’s mission was to take a great thing and make it even greater. This meant raising the bar on skincare treatments without sacrificing the pampering experience.
The advanced facials now incorporate the latest and best technology available to a non-medical day spa. The client reception has been nothing short of adulation with the Red Carpet Facial remaining one of the most popular in the city for pre-awards primping.
The latest addition, the VSOTO Oxygen Facial, however, is the ultimate skin fitness facial. Available in either a 50 or 80-minute session, this facial incorporates multiple modalities to leave skin completely poreless, radiant and refined, and utilizes the botanically-rich VSOTO skincare line.
For starters, the reception staff is truly welcoming and every guest is treated like an A-lister. My esthetician Gary was the absolute best and a true asset to his profession. He has been with the spa since Vance took over and is a truly seasoned professional.
Starting with a deep cleanse and gentle enzyme exfoliation using steam, my senses succumbed to the sweet aroma of rose petals. A soothing facial massage followed, proceeded by lympatic drainage using an apparatus I had never seen before.
Then came an ultrasonic device to tone and condition. This was followed by the deeper VSOTO Rose Enzyme Peel, which had a tingly sensation but nothing intolerable. Next thing I knew, Gary whipped out a diamond-tip microdermabrasion wand and also performed some light extractions. Then he used the Japanese skin scrubber, which pushes out any remaining dirt and debris with fresh water.
Two separate hydrating masks were applied, followed by the oxygen infusion system to thrust customized serums and oxygen into the dermis to increase cell turnover. Gary then applied more serums, a moisturizer and topical sunscreen, always using gentle massage strokes. And did I mention red LED light was beaming down the entire time for extra skin rejuvenation benefits?
I ended my visit with a warm cup of tea in the intimate relaxation lounge. Natural wood, lush greenery and neutral colors add to the minimalist yet inviting air of sophistication.
Two weeks later and my skin still looks flawless and absolutely luminous. People have noticed. It is easy to understand why Ole Henriksen Spa has remained LA’s not so well-kept secret and why it is on every list of top regional and national skincare spas.
