Amangiri is a remote luxury hideaway in Canyon Point, Utah.

For those seeking a remote getaway accompanied by luxurious amenities, Amangiri is the perfect destination, situated on 600 acres in Southern Utah’s Canyon Point. Amangiri means ‘peaceful mountain’ and is surrounded by five national parks, numerous national monuments, and the Navajo Nation Reservation—the country’s largest Native American reservation. The jaw-dropping property, which is a 25-minute drive from Page Municipal Airport, is tucked into a protected valley and backed by a lofty rock escarpment, offering sweeping views of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Accommodations feature 34 elegantly-appointed suites with fire places, private terraces, and private courtyard entrances. A four-bedroom Mesa Home with a private swimming pool is available for larger groups or those that want even more privacy and space. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities and excursions, including horseback riding, hiking, hot air balloon rides at sunrise, and trips to different national monuments in the surrounding area.

The property is also home to Aman Spa, which is spread across 25,000 square feet and reflects the healing Navajo traditions with a holistic menu of treatments and spa journeys. From multiple treatment rooms with stunning views of the desert landscape and Water and Floatation Pavilions to a Fitness Center, Pilates Studio, and Yoga Studio, there are endless options for those looking to relax and restore their body, mind, and spirit. We spoke with Anthony Andra, Spa Manager at Aman Spa, who shared insider tips, treatments to try, and more.

Why You’ll Love It: We have a very large facility for the size of Amangiri Resort. We have 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space with a lot of calming areas to relax, meditate, or just take in the beauty of the resort.

Key Features: We have five areas where guests can relax pre- or post-treatment. There are two outdoor Thai pavilions, a private Jacuzzi, outdoor step pool with cushions and zero-gravity chairs, spa lobby with a fireplace, and a courtyard with a welcoming area to sit and read. If you are a guest of the hotel, the spa facility is complimentary to use with or without an appointment. We are adults-only and co-ed with a beautiful steam room, rain shower, dry sauna, cold plunge, step pool, and Jacuzzi. Guests can use these amenities from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Insider’s Tip: Our Water Pavilion has an outdoor step pool, but closer to the treatment rooms we have a two-person Jacuzzi that is tucked in to a rock alcove. The setting is unlike any other facility I have seen and is a great place for guests to relax and enjoy the area.

Snacks Served: Currently we have two different flavored waters we change daily and we serve hot Yaupon tea in the front lobby. We also have our Chef’s menu which guests are able to order from. We will bring their order to them and set it up in one of our beautiful outdoor spaces.

Splurge Treatment: All of our treatments begin with a Native American Smudging Ceremony before the guest enters the room—this clears negative energy and is a perfect way to start all treatments. We also end our treatments with Sage hot towels, playing the Crystal Sound Bowls, and every treatment room has an aromatherapy shower the guest can use after their treatment.

All of the treatments are special but if I had to choose, our Hozho Tandem Massage (four-handed massage) is performed by two therapists and includes a scalp massage and Reflexology. We also have a resident acupuncturist, Kristina Allred, and she does what’s called a Three Treasures Journey. This is a two-hour treatment that incorporates a series of cupping, acupuncture, sound healing, and tinctures to engage and awaken the senses and restore balance.

Unique Treatment: The Desert Dream Journey. This incorporates our floatation pool—a large round pool built into a manmade alcove. The pool has lights and music that play, which are great for meditation as the deprivation tanks can take you into a deeper state of meditation quickly while floating. Now what makes this treatment so unique? Our pool is not one that you get in and shut it over you—it’s fairly large and has steps going into it.

We came up with what we call a Cranial Floatation, where once the guest is in the pool a therapist will perform Cranial Sacral on the head for 20 minutes, followed by Reflexology for an additional 10 minutes—all while the guest is floating in the pool. Then, the therapist will sneak out quietly and let them float for an additional 30 minutes. The guest then showers off and receives a 60-minute massage of their choice. If they are pressed for time, we do offer the option of just the cranial floatation.
