Spa Profile: Currents Spa at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel
The Cape, a Thompson Hotel is a chic boutique spa resort located on the beachfront in Los Cabos, and offers incredible views from every room and vantage point. The hotel’s design is interwoven within the natural landscape, and the interior design features the clean, contemporary lines of visionary Mexico City architect Javier Sanchez, converged in a relaxed 1960s Southern California-meets-Baja aesthetic.
The resort’s spa, Currents Spa, is nestled in one of the natural rock formations and offers guests a transcendent spa experience with a subtle interplay of light and shade paired with the calming soiund of ocean waves. For those looking to be even closer to nature, Currents offers ocean-view cabanas for al fresco treatments, and much more. We chatted with Spa Manager Blanca Almeida, who shared favorite treatments, unique amenities, insider tips, and more:
Why You’ll Love It: We have the advantage of having an open-air relaxation area that features a spectacular view across the Sea of Cortez to our famous natural icon, El Arco. Guests really enjoy being able to settle into a deep relaxation with Cabo’s amazing seascape as their backdrop.
Key Features: Our intimate, seven treatment-room spa features a steam room, sauna, hot and cold plunge pools, a couples treatment room with rain showers and a private pool, and two ocean-view cabanas for al fresco treatments. Guests are literally just steps from the sand and sea when enjoying a treatment at these outdoor cabanas, while the relaxation lobby (featuring the hot/cold plunge pools and an array of infused waters, fresh fruits, organic teas, etc.) also features this incredible view out to the Sea of Cortez.
We also offer soft touches, like a warming neck wrap offered post-massage, to enhance your experience. Our fitness center houses state-of-the-art equipment, yoga, and private workout sessions, and features panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, providing unobstructed views of the Sea of Cortez. We also have a full-service salon available for hair and nail appointments.
Snacks Served: We have a refreshing bar with fresh hand cut fruit, infused waters, and organic teas. And unlike other spas, guests are welcome—when in our open-air relaxation lounge—to order drinks and food from in-room dinning or our Point Break pool bar. Since it’s an open area, this works really well and prevents any cross-over scents from disturbing one’s experience.
Bonus: I think that extra special touch is our commitment to personal attention and luxury service, from providing refreshing towels and cooling cucumbers for your eyes in our relaxation area to warming neck towels post-massage.
Unique Treatment: Our massages and facials are all really unique experiences, as we customize them according to individual guest needs.
Splurge Treatment: Our special 90-minute Currents Anti-Aging or Relaxation Rituals are a real treat!
Insider’s Favorite: A 90-minute massage customized exactly to my unique needs is my favorite!
Insider’s Tip: Try to book the sunset time for your services—the view is just amazing.
