The spa recently underwent a complete transformation as part of the resort’s multimillion dollar renovation project and includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, Serenity Room with a juice bar and lounge, Mayakoba’s largest salon, a botanical garden, and luxurious private treatment rooms. The inviting indoor-outdoor haven features soothing textures, colors, and scents of the ancient indigenous Mayan culture and is surrounded by views of the Yucatan rainforest.

We chatted with Fairmont Mayakoba’s Wellness and Recreation Director, Jessica Lonngi, to learn more about treatments to try, insider tips, and more.

Fairmont Mayakoba offers an elevated vacation experience for families and couples.

Why You’ll Love It: They love that we have a great variety of locally-inspired treatments where we use natural ingredients such as Mexican cacao, copal clay, honey, corn, and also that our therapists use herbs and flowers from our herbal garden to create amazing massage oils.

The 594-acre private community is located on the stunning Caribbean shoreline.

Key Features:

  • At certain hours of the day we receive guests with a copal cleansing ceremony, we provide them with a welcome beverage that cleans the palate in order for them to enjoy all the aromas of the spa.  Our spa has two floors, the first floor is where you will find the locker rooms, a steam room, sauna for men, and a meditation room for women, Jacuzzis and showers. We offer haircare and sun protection products.

  • On the second floor we have our new juice bar which features different types of infused waters, fresh juices and smoothies, as well as some appetizers for guests to try; and also the co-ed relaxation lounge, an outdoor swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and 20 treatment rooms, including the vichy shower, a quartz sand bed, and two couples rooms.

  • One of the main highlights is the new spa garden, which features another couples room, a grounding path, a temazcal, a cold plunge, our melipona bee beehives, and an herbal garden. This place was design for guests to enjoy the sound of water and nature. Our new state-of-the art gym has Technogym and Peloton equipment, but we also have gym instructors who will be more than happy to coach you.

Fairmont Spa at Fairmont Mayakoba is a unique wellness sanctuary nestled in Mayakoba’s lush mangrove forest.

Snacks Served: We have worked closely with the chefs on our property to design a Wellness Menu that offers balanced and healthy dishes made from organic ingredients and sugar-free desserts. In our juice bar you will find all-organic smoothies and juices made with local fruits and vegetables.

The Serenity Room includes a lounge, juice bar, and networking areas for guests.

Insider’s Tip: Wellness begins with oneself, the culture of taking care not only of our body but our mind, emotions, and spirit has now become more important than ever. In order to provide wellness to guests, we have to be centered and balanced—that includes making time to take care of ourselves, whether it is going to the gym, getting a massage or a facial, or going to an art class, we need to make time to take care of ourselves in order to provide a great service and share our passion and purpose with our guests.

Guests can relax in the Serenity Room before and after their treatments.

Bonus: After their treatment, each guest receives a small amenity as a token of appreciation. When they check out, we invite them to our Spa boutique to pick a small gift we have designed for them so they can take a little piece of the Fairmont Spa Mayakoba with them.

Fairmont Spa is an indoor-outdoor haven with views of the Yucatan rainforest.

Splurge Treatment: For couples, our Yucatan Healing Retreat (2-hour treatment) consists of guests having their feet exfoliated with natural salts, then choosing between three different natural ingredients for their exfoliation, as well as another three different options for their body wraps.

Afterwards, they spend time in a coconut milk and flower bath, ending their treatment with a sumptuous side-by-side massage with oils customized by our therapists. With this service, they indulge themselves and we are able to share with them our Mexican and Mayan culture.

The spa’s amenities include a cold plunge.

Favorite Treatment: Not really, but I can say that people love the Temazcal and the Reset & Correct Treatment, this latter one was designed by Barker Wellness x Hyperice. It is the next step towards a customized massage experience that starts with a postural assessment to identify the imbalance and discomfort of the muscles.

Using the Hyperice tool to increase blood flow and re-incorporate weakened muscles, restore balance, and increase a range of motion, posture, and alignment. Barker Wellness Muscle Therapy cream is used to soothe discomfort and allow for a blissful experience.

The spa’s treatment menu features a wide range of rejuvenating treatments and experiences.

Unique Treatment: We have several, but if we had to pick one it will be Paatjal Energy Journey. This is a 90-minute experience in our quartz sand bed that aligns with the guest’s purpose, allowing them to connect body, mind, and soul. The aromatherapy, sound healing bowls, and warm bed of quartz sand send vibrations that resonate through your body, leaving you mentally and physically refreshed.

Finishing with a facial cleansing and the application of a luxurious mask infused with quartz and energized with Reiki helps eradicate stress on the skin. Feel a complete renewal from the feet to the soul, balancing the body and spirit with a pendulum chakra alignment.

Fairmont Spa also offers locally-inspired services and holistic ceremonies.
