Driving up to the Nicklaus Clubhouse on a crisp Friday afternoon, the approach to The Spa at Promontory is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Tucked away within Park City’s premier sprawling private mountain community, the property unfolds in a panoramic display of sweeping alpine vistas and manicured luxury.

While Promontory is renowned for its exclusive multi-generational amenities, world-class golf, and private ski lodges, its crowning jewel for wellness is quietly nestled inside the clubhouse walls.

For members and guests seeking a sophisticated sanctuary that bridges the gap between rugged outdoor adventure and cutting-edge clinical results, this high-altitude haven delivers on every front.

Upon entering, the mountain bustle melts away into an atmosphere of quiet, rustic elegance. I was kindly greeted by the front desk team and immediately met by Spa Director and Master Esthetician Chelsea Broderick.

Our visit began with a personal tour of the facility, including a stop in the elegant, sunlit bridal room for a quick chat about the spa’s philosophy. The design seamlessly blends stone and rich wood textures, creating an intimate, exclusive club environment that feels both deeply restorative and impeccably high-end.

After checking into the pristine locker room, I changed into an incredibly plush robe and slippers. Before my scheduled treatments, I decided to experience the spa's specialized contrast therapy protocol designed to combat the dehydrating, fatiguing effects of high altitude.

The hydrotherapy circuit is a masterpiece of recovery layout. I began in the infrared sauna to stimulate collagen production and promote deep, cellular detoxification, followed by a bracing, mind-clearing dip in the cold plunge pool. To complete the cycle, I spent time in the aromatic steam room to deeply hydrate my skin and open up its pores.

A particularly thoughtful touch in the wet lounge is the sculptural ice machine, which provides crushed ice for custom-made ice packs.

For those focused on athletic recovery, the lounge also provides targeted massage bands and mobility balls on hand—proving that every detail here has been engineered for peak physical restoration.

My spa day occurred shortly after an international trip, and it was the perfect “welcome home.” After a period of heavy travel, long flights, and foreign hotel beds, my body was in desperate need of alignment, making the Signature Massage ($235 for 80 minutes) the perfect antidote.

I relaxed in the oxygen lounge with a warm cup of custom-blended wellness tea before being greeted by my massage therapist, Sonya.

Chelsea had previously mentioned that Promontory members are known to fly into town solely to get on Sonya’s table, and within minutes, I understood why.

Sonya is exceptionally gifted. She blended intuitive, deep-tissue structural work with advanced stretching maneuvers and modalities that targeted my stiff neck and chronically tight shoulders.

The 80-minute treatment incorporated luxurious, nutrient-rich OSEA algae body oils paired with a targeted application of CBD Restore Lotion by Muscle MX, which created a soothing, tingly, and deeply therapeutic sensation.

Enhanced by heated towel treatments and meticulous attention to my hands, feet, and scalp, this was a masterful, head-to-toe therapeutic escape.

Next, I was treated to an unparalleled facial experience performed by Chelsea herself. As a master esthetician, her clinical precision and touch are unmatched, which shone through during the Customized Glo2Facial with FIRM Customization ($350 for 80 minutes).

We opted for this advanced, non-invasive 80-minute treatment because it is specifically formulated to strengthen the skin barrier, enhance collagen regeneration, improve elasticity, and flood the skin with moisture.

The formulation boasts a decadent ingredient list featuring gold flakes, silk amino acids, copper, silver, and a rich blend of grapeseed, marula, and rosehip oils, leaving my skin completely revitalized.

Chelsea’s meticulous step-by-step protocol began with a double-cleanse using Epicutis Oil Cleanser followed by Image Skincare Vital C Cleanser.

Next, the signature GLO2 FIRM pod treatment was applied to trigger the body's natural internal oxygenation, which was followed by a rhythmic facial massage, cupping, and manual lymphatic drainage utilizing carrot seed oil.

My skin was then treated with Epicutis bio-cellulose sheet masks for the face, neck, and décolleté, which were massaged into the skin using chilled globes before ultrasound technology and gentle heat infused the active FIRM serum into the dermal layers.

To finish, Chelsea applied a final layer of protection featuring Phytomer Smoothing Eye Cream, Epicutis Hydrobiome Mist, Lipid Serum, Hyvve Cream, and Bowler Esthetics Lip Renewal Treatment.

This technical sequence resulted in an immediate transformation, leaving skin visibly plumped, lifted, and hydrated without any irritation or redness.

Following the treatments, I returned to the relaxation lounge to hook up to the oxygen station once more. For Park City residents and visitors adjusting to the 7,000+ foot elevation, this amenity is a game-changer, rapidly alleviating altitude headaches and dehydration.

To wrap up the afternoon, I utilized the gorgeous women’s locker room showers—featuring multiple high-pressure showerheads and jets—and styled my hair using the premium Oribe styling products and professional tools provided.

On my way out, I browsed the beautifully curated boutique, which features top-tier skincare brands, luxury athleisure, and stunning coffee table books.

To top off a perfect afternoon, I was sent home with a generous gift bag filled with some of my absolute favorite product picks from the day to maintain my spa glow at home.
