Spa Review: The Spa at The Grand Offers a Tranquil Escape With Southern Coastal Charm

During my recent jaunt to the South, I found myself nestled in the serene town of Fairhope, Alabama during an overnight stay at the Grand Hotel Gold Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection. Fairhope embodies the epitome of Southern coastal charm, boasting breathtaking landscapes and effortless elegance.

Spa Profile: The Spa at The Grand Hotel

Situated on a sprawling 550-acres enveloped by the picturesque Mobile Bay, the Grand Hotel Gold Resort is a haven of relaxation offering golf, tennis, beach access, pools, and a luxurious spa—a contemporary oasis with a rich history of Southern hospitality spanning over 175 years.

The indoor pool is inviting with calm waters and views of nature through floor-to-ceiling windows.

My accommodations afforded me a captivating view of the marina, setting the stage for an early morning indulgence at the resort's expansive 20,000-square-foot wellness sanctuary.

Designed to embrace the coastal culture of the region, the spa boasts 12 treatment rooms and an array of amenities including an indoor pool, tranquil relaxation space, invigorating whirlpool, steam room, sauna, and more.

I began my day in the most relaxing way possible—with an early spa appointment! Stepping into the spa, I immediately felt a sense of tranquility and coastal elegance. The chic wood panel accents, along with the stunning marina views, created a soothing ambiance.

The friendly staff welcomed me warmly and offered me a beverage. Opting for the spa's renowned Spa Mocktail, a delightful fruity blend, I felt refreshed already.

After being greeted, I was escorted to the locker room. Before anything else, I decided to indulge in the Welcome Ritual. This ritual involved using a botanical cleansing towelette from Functional Botanicals.

Not only did it cleanse my skin, but it also provided moisture and a sensory experience. It was the perfect prelude to the upcoming spa treatment, setting the stage for relaxation and rejuvenation.

I enjoyed participating in the spa’s Welcome Ritual, which includes aromatic cleansing wipes.

The relaxation area was vast, boasting exquisite mosaic details adorning its walls and featuring access to a soothing whirlpool. Despite the spa bustling with several groups of patrons on the day of my visit, the spacious layout and attentive staff maintained a serene ambiance.

As my scheduled service time approached, I was greeted warmly by a friendly therapist who escorted me to the nail space.

Getting a pedicure and manicure is always a treat, but let me tell you, having it done with an incredible view took the experience to a whole new level for me. In addition to pedicure and manicure stations, the space features hair stations and sinks, as well as HydraFacial treatment beds.

I was in for a real treat with my scheduled appointed: the Signature Ultimate Grand Nail Experience, an 110-minute luxury pedicure and express manicure package.

The pedicure was scented with the LALICIOUS body care collection.

It all kicked off with the pedicure session, where I got to sink my feet into warm bubbles while enjoying a relaxing chair massage. The skilled technician pampered my feet and calves with LALICIOUS products, using a variety of scrubs, oils, and creams to ensure they were silky smooth and my nails were perfectly shaped. Plus, the addition of warm stones during the foot and calf massage was pure bliss.

For my toenail polish, I went with OPI's vibrant coral shade, Live.Love.Carnaval, adding a pop of color to my look. And as if that wasn't enough, my hands were treated to a much-needed manicure, with the perfect nude-pink combo recommended by my manicurist: OPI's Sweetheat layered with Baby Take a Vow.

It was truly a pampering session unlike any other, made even more special by the stunning surroundings.

As my nails dried, I relished in delightful conversation with the welcoming spa and salon staff. Afterwards, I took a leisurely stroll through the charming retail section, featuring exciting brands like LALICIOUS, Biologique Recherche, G.M. COLLIN, and KNESKO, among others.

Stepping outside the spa, I was greeted by a picturesque open-air patio, where I rendezvoused with friends to soak up the sunshine and embark on an adventure of exploring the Grand Hotel Gold Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection for the day.

Insider Tips: Give yourself plenty of extra time to get to the spa as it is in a designated building within the resort. Put away your cellphone and relax, the spa staff is strict with this request to ensure privacy for all guests. Arrive early for ample time to unwind before yourself in the relaxation space and enjoy amenities.
