Can you share a little about your journey in the industry to becoming a cosmetic nurse practitioner?

I have always loved beauty and aesthetics. I had a beauty blog for about 10 years. Shortly after having my first daughter, I went into nursing and towards the end of my program, I was concentrating more on aesthetics than patient care. After I graduated, I got a job with a well-respected plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills. This is where I gained most of my knowledge and experience in aesthetics.

What are your specialties? Do you have a signature treatment that you are best known for?

I absolutely love to do injectables and skin rejuvenation treatments and would consider them my specialties. I would say my favorite treatment is Microneedling + PRP.  I have really mastered the technique and every single one of my patients has had wonderful results.

What are the most popular treatments right now? Any interesting trends that you've noticed during the pandemic?

During the pandemic, when we were all confined to our homes, self-care was one of the top trending topics. In the age of social media, we have become more proactive in skincare and I think the pandemic may have created the time and opportunity for it. Skin care is very “in” right now and my most popular treatment is Microneedling + PRP, which is also known as the Vampire Facial.

Any new innovative treatments that people should have on their radar?

Morpheus8. This is a new technology that combines Microneedling + PRP with radio frequency that stimulates collagen production by targeting the deeper layers of the skin creating a natural anti-aging process if you will. The addition of stem cells to the treatment really enhances the results.

What are the treatments  that celebrities are doing but don’t want the rest of us to know about?

Celebrities do just about everything, I think. Of course, we don’t see their recovery phase so we can’t be sure. Botox is common to address fine lines and wrinkles. Canthopexy and brow lift surgery is very popular among celebrities, commonly known as a pony-tail lift, which is the tightening of the outer corner of the eye, creating a “cat eye” appearance.

What is your advice to people who want to look younger without appearing like they've had anything done?

The younger generation should concentrate more on their skincare rather than fillers. Concentrate on Vitamin C, hydration, wear SPF religiously, and avoid going in the sun without it. Most people do not realize that UV rays emit 365 days out of the year. I recommend any treatment that will boost or stimulate collagen production that will keep your skin plump and glowing.

What are your top skincare tips that people can do at home?

I recommend chemically exfoliating using an acid or enzyme overnight mask once a week. For anyone over the age of 25, use retinol three times a week to help with cell turnover and reduce photoaging.

Any favorite product recommendations?

Alto Defense Serum from Skin Better is my favorite Vitamin C product on the market. I also love EltaMD UV Clear SPF and Allies of Skin 1A Retinal Overnight Mask.

For those planning to get a cosmetic procedure, what are the most important things to look for when choosing who to perform it?

I suggest looking at the provider’s work and technique on social media. Reading reviews on Yelp can aid in determining if that provider is the right fit for you and what you are looking for. I personally think that word of mouth is the most trustworthy referral in this business.
