A Conversation about Color: Meaning, Mood, and Manifestation
Color is immensely powerful; it can affect one’s mood, offers healing capabilities, has the ability to motivate a person and help them manifest things that they want in life, and so much more. We are all drawn to different colors, and we all see and interpret color in our own unique way. Many of us enjoy expressing ourselves and our personalities through color—be it the clothes we wear, hair color, makeup, and of course, nail polish.
CND’s Colors of You collection was created to radiate positivity, showcase one’s style, and allow each individual’s authenticity to shine through with fresh shades that evoke joy and confidence. Inspired by self-expression and individuality, the collection of pastel nail colors is the visual inspiration calling you to be true to yourself above all.

Recently, we joined CND for a personal color consultation led by color expert and author Walaa, who shared her journey as a color expert, how color impacts our mood, what each color in CND’s Colors of You collection represents, and more.
“Watch the colors that you are attracted to or repelled by—they always have messages for you,” says Walaa. “The colors you hate the most are colors you need the most. If people want to learn more about color, my book Heal Yourself With Color: Harness the Power of Color to Change Your Life is out for pre-order now.”
How did you become a color expert?
My own journey with color started when I was in Tokyo. I was in a rough place in my life, felt disconnected from myself, and was seeking a meaning to my life. One night I heard a voice inside me that said, “Park all your worries and you will see magic.” The next few days led me to a color training, then another color therapy course. Since then my life was never the same—and it turned into the life I've always dreamed of having.
What did you enjoy about partnering with CND to provide color consultations?
I enjoyed sharing the influences color has on us with people who understood its power. Color has been a major part of my life for the last eight years and I was excited to be able to share the message of how a simple thing like your nail polish color can have a great impact on our moods and emotions every day.
What does a color consultation consist of?
A color reading usually lasts for 35 minutes and it will help you to see where your energy is blocked, understand the challenges you’re experiencing, and expand into new spaces. It consists of learning your specific soul color combo, finding your power center to harness your potential, and a mini healing session—all depending on your needs and where you are. Usually a color reading is done once a year and after a color reading, people move into different work with color, such as color healing sessions and online workshops.
How does color impact our mood and reflect our personalities?
Color impacts our moods by helping to lift our spirits—like when we look at yellow, we instantly feel a nice uplift. Color can also help us go through difficult emotions such as grief and sadness. Orange, for example, helps us process these emotions.
Color reflects personalities. For example, with the colors we choose to wear, we are communicating from our subconscious to the others (subconscious to subconscious talking to each other) and telling them about how we feel, think, etc. We give a lot of information about who we are, and our mental and emotional state with the colors we choose to wear.
Can color help manifest or attract things into our lives?
Yes, color can do that for us. Visualization is a powerful tool that color is a vital part of. One of my favorite manifestation exercises is to create a magenta ball of light, placing all you wish to manifest in it and sending it to the sky.
Side note: Though this is a powerful visualization, it won’t work if you have certain blocks about the things you are wanting to manifest. That’s why I always recommend that people clear their blocks and fears around every wish they want to manifest before they add it to that ball.
How can I find the right colors for myself? Do people’s colors change depending on certain factors?
The colors we need are usually colors we are attracted to or repelled by. We usually know these colors intuitively and these are colors separate from our soul color combo that we are born with. The colors we are attracted to usually change as we move through life and its lessons. If the colors you are attracted to or repelled by don't change, this could possibly mean that you are repeating the patterns and lessons.
What do the colors in CND’s Colors of You Collection represent?
Change Sparker: Whenever we go through times of change, we generally experience a rollercoaster of different emotions. This color helps create a neutral base that is calming to your nervous system and grounding your energy, where change begins.

Rule Breaker: This color will bring excitement and fun into your life, help you let go of the seriousness, and awaken your joyous and playful nature. This shade is a powerful healer to a broken heart, allowing synchronicity into your energetic space.
Chance Taker: This shade is for the ones who speak their truth in all aspects of their lives. It will align with your inner truth when you need to make those big choices and take chances on yourself and in your life. This color will also bring peace and trust to your energetic space.
Mover & Shaker: This color is for the subtle creative who will change the world without making a noise. It will create harmony between your creative mind and your critical one so that you can innovate and bring your venture to life.
Self-Lover: This is a color that will bring the energy of kindness, compassion, and self-love into your space. It will support you to let love in, learn to become kinder to yourself, and manifest tranquility.
