The Conscious Beauty Collective Sets Up Shop in Palm Springs

The resort town of Palm Springs has been a go-to desert sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles ever since Hollywood A-listers from Lucille Ball to Marilyn Monroe made it their playground back in the mid-century. What better place for The Conscious Beauty Collective—a traveling beauty pop-up store— to set up shop in than in a city synonymous with relaxation, self-care, and wellness?

Curated with more than 30 indie beauty and wellness brands that focus on clean and toxic-free formulations, The Conscious Beauty Collective offers consumers a unique beauty shopping experience filled with education, on-site experiences, and loads of product samples from a variety of mission-driven beauty companies.

Located in Palm Springs’ historical downtown at 232 Palm Canyon Drive, The CBC is spearheaded by Lynn Power, founder of the award-winning premium haircare brand MASAMI, which is known for its unique Japanese seaweed formulation.

Power, an advertising executive turned beauty entrepreneur, firmly believes in strength in numbers and conceived of a collective store for beauty brands where small, independent brands with amazing products could thrive simultaneously.

In April 2022, her first CBC launched in a Westfield Mall outside of San Francisco. Boston and Rancho Cucamonga, CA pop-ups soon followed before landing in Palm Springs, where Powers calls home half of the year.

“Moving to such an iconic location in Palm Springs is a dream,” says Power. “We love sharing our passion for conscious beauty here. Most people don't realize how many toxins are in the products they are currently using. Supporting clean indie brands is good for everyone, including the environment."

Participating brands in the Palm Springs pop-up include: ADORAtherapy (intentional healing fragrances) Beautyologie (fair trade and ethically-sourced products from around the world), Empress Naturals (botanical massage oils), Madame Lemy (aluminum-free powder deodorants), and many more.

Caire Beauty—a menopausal skincare brand and Oprah Daily Award winner—is a CBC “OG,” having been part of the collective since its first iteration in the Bay Area. Co-founder Celeste Lee believes the collective is much more than just a shop offering clean beauty products to conscious consumers but is also a movement.

“It's a collective of (mostly) female founders who share learnings, ideas, what to do, what not to do in creating success in the crazy competitive beauty world—one where if you aren't Estee Lauder or L'Oreal is so difficult to navigate,” says Lee.

Whether you happen to stumble into the Conscious Beauty Collective during a leisurely stroll or plan a girl’s trip to visit this truly unique beauty destination, give yourself plenty of time to explore. Like a kid in a candy store, you’ll find it hard to pick just one or two items.
