The new XERF treatment is an advanced non-invasive, skin-tightening procedure designed to improve firmness, lift tissue, and support natural collagen production without surgery, needles, or downtime. Developed by Cynosure Lutronic, XERF uses sophisticated radiofrequency (RF) technology to target multiple layers of the skin and underlying support structures.
Often used on the face and neck, XERF is also versatile enough for body areas such as the cheeks, jawline, jowls, brows, arms, thighs, and abdomen. The treatment focuses on gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation rather than dramatic immediate change.
At the forefront of advanced skin-tightening treatments like XERF is Dr. Jacquiline Hakim, a double board-certified dermatologist based in Beverly Hills known for combining medical dermatology with cutting-edge aesthetic technology. She offers XERF as part of a broader portfolio of energy-based treatments designed to improve skin quality, firmness, and overall facial and body rejuvenation.
Dr. Hakim is recognized for her precision-driven approach and emphasis on natural-looking results. Her clinical philosophy centers on personalized treatment plans that address each patient’s skin structure, concerns, and long-term goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Dr. Hakim practices at Divina Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, a Beverly Hills clinic specializing in advanced cosmetic dermatology and non-surgical skin rejuvenation. The practice offers a comprehensive selection of laser and energy-based technologies, allowing patients to receive individualized treatment plans that may include XERF alongside other regenerative procedures.
XERF is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment that relies on multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency energy. RF energy gently heats the skin’s deeper layers, triggering a biological response that stimulates collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for firmness, elasticity, and structural support.
Unlike procedures that rely on injections or surgery, XERF works by activating the body’s own regenerative processes. This makes it appealing to patients seeking skin tightening with minimal disruption to daily life.

How XERF Works
A defining feature of XERF is its ability to deliver energy at different depths during a single treatment session.
The device uses two radiofrequency levels (6.78 MHz and 2 MHz), allowing practitioners to treat superficial, mid-level, and deeper tissue layers. This multi-depth approach supports comprehensive collagen remodeling rather than surface-level tightening alone.
XERF incorporates pulse modulation along with integrated cryogen cooling to maintain comfortable surface temperatures while heat is delivered below the skin. This balance helps maximize results while reducing discomfort and lowering the risk of overheating.
The system measures skin impedance continuously, enabling providers to adjust intensity, depth, and energy levels based on each patient’s skin characteristics. This customization is key for treating different areas safely and effectively.
Research indicates that XERF can reach deeper supportive layers, including tissue associated with lifting effects, not just superficial tightening. By influencing these structures, the treatment supports improved contour and firmness over time.
Benefits of XERF
Patients and providers are drawn to XERF for its combination of effectiveness, comfort, and flexibility. Benefits of the treatment include visible tightening and lifting, increased collagen production, a non-invasive experience, little to no downtime and versatility of the treatment.

What to Expect During the Procedure
My XERF session began with a consultation with Dr. Hakim to assess my skin concerns and determine appropriate treatment settings. During the procedure a handheld device was moved across my lower face area. I experienced mild heat that was reduced by a built-in cooling device. My session was painless and lasted 45 minutes. After the treatment, I saw significant lifting and tightening in the areas that were treated.
XERF represents a new generation of radiofrequency-based skin tightening that combines multi-depth energy delivery, real-time customization, and comfort-focused technology. By stimulating collagen and elastin while targeting deeper supportive tissues, the treatment aims to deliver progressive lifting and firming with minimal interruption to daily life.
XERF is a relatively new treatment and can be experienced at Divina Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, 436 N. Bedford Drive, Suite 303 in Beverly Hills. Appointments can be made by visiting their website or calling (310) 975-9785.
