Makeup will always be my first love, but skincare comes in a close second. When I was invited to the launch of the new Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen Lip, I couldn’t have been more excited. Hello, infinity room and cocktails!

Algenist, an award-winning beauty brand, is best-known for unlocking the anti-aging benefits of algae. All of their products are developed with clean, safe formulas that promise visible skin transformation. The Genius Lip is no exception. This innovative, vegan formula features active plant collagen, alguronic acid and microalgae oil beads. It claims to hydrate and smooth lip lines and wrinkles, and improve lip definition while replenishing and nourishing the lips. All of that sounds great, but does it work? The short answer: Yes. 

If I’m being 100 percent honest, products that promise plump lips kind of scare me. I’ve tried one too many products that set my mouth on fire and make my lips feel like they’re going to melt off my face. Everyone wants plump lips, but no one likes pain. The Algenist formula is nothing like your typical lip serum. When applied to the lips, you can immediately see and feel the hydrating and plumping effect WITHOUT the burn. 

It has a very slight tingle that lets you know it’s working but is in no way unpleasant. The ceramic tip applicator is user-friendly and has an instant cooling effect. Use before bed as a nighttime treatment or as part of your morning makeup routine. Or both! The formula is not sticky or greasy, and can be worn alone or under your favorite lipstick.

As someone who has long suffered with dry chapped lips, this has made a noticeable difference in how mine look and feel. If you’re a fan of matte lipstick, this is a must. It will make any lipstick go on like a dream. If you’re looking to up your lip game, this just might be your new best friend. Needless to say, I’m hooked.
