Nestled in a beautiful residential neighborhood in Pasadena, CA, on the grounds of The Langham Huntington Hotel, the Chuan Spa offers the finest international spa treatments based on the ancient traditions of the Orient. From the minute guests step through the Moon Gate, they embark on a journey of balance and relaxation. We chatted with Spa Director Holly Edgin, who took us behind-the-scenes for a closer look.
Why You'll Love it: Guests love the uniqueness of Chuan Spa. It's an inviting, calm and private sanctuary that provides a haven of wellness and relaxation with each visit. Guests love our signature treatments inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the journey which begins upon entering the spa facilities through the Moon Gates.

Key Features: We offer 12 treatment rooms including a couple's suite and VIP suite, locker facilities with showers, sauna, herbal steam and whirlpool, a fitness center and a full-service salon. Our fitness center grants access to fitness classes such as yoga and mat/reformer Pilates. We also offer complimentary parking for spa guests.
Bonus: Guests are welcomed and begin their Chuan Spa journey in our Contemplation Lounge, where their individual element of the day is identified and nourished. Guests then enter through the Moon Gates and proceed to enjoy a heat experience prior to their spa service and end their treatment journey in the Dream Room.

Insider's Tip: Something special and exclusive that we offer is a private spa suite that includes a private steam room and shower. Guests can request access to this experience depending on availability the same day of treatment. If it's not available, guests can also reserve the suite ahead of time for up to eight guests to enjoy. Most guests use the suite to host a group of friends for special occasions such as bridal showers or birthday celebrations.
Snacks Served: Traditional Chinese five element teas, fruit-infused waters, fruits, nuts and a light spa fare menu that can be delivered directly to the spa.
Splurge: Yes, the Chuan Tao of Detox. It's wonderful! It begins with a full body exfoliation that stimulates circulation and follows with a warm marine algae wrap infused with oils that help intensify the detox process. An acupressure massage follows that helps to ease tension in your back, neck and shoulders by releasing energy blocks. The treatment ends with a Kerstin Florian Customized Advance Repair facial to purify and rejuvenate the skin.

Most Unique Treatment: The Chuan Yu Facial which uses an ancient Gua Shua technique that is applied to revitalize different skin types. It utilizes jade, known as a healing stone to balance the meridian (energies) throughout the body by nurturing, healing and restoring skin by increasing the flow of body circulation.
Insider's Favorite: The Chuan Muddy Elements. It's one of their signature wraps and it integrates the five Chinese elements into five signature muds, specifically designed to nurture in a truly unique way. It begins with a warm oil herbal salt exfoliation that stimulates skin and preps for the elemental mud wrap.
