Triathlon Training
Sanctuary guests can test their limits and get excited about the 2020 Olympics by training with an Olympian. Sanctuary’s three-night Triathlon Training package includes three days of training with the resort’s team of experts. On the first day, Olympic gold medalist Misty Hyman shares the best swimming strategies for endurance and speed in Sanctuary’s 25-yard outdoor lap pool. Day two is a guided desert bike ride, and day three features a tandem run with a fitness instructor. A power breakfast each morning fuels the day’s workout, while each evening brings a 60-minute spa treatment to restore muscles and joints impacted during training.
Paddleboard Yoga
Sanctuary makes use of its sparkling infinity pool (the largest in Scottsdale) to bring a traditionally coastal activity to the Arizona desert. Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga takes participants through a sequence of yoga postures while balanced on a secured, specially designed standup paddleboard, developing core strength along with the mind body benefits of traditional yoga. Adding to the experience are the inspirational views from Sanctuary’s mountain perch.
Yoga, Elevated (Literally)
Sanctuary guests can now experience yoga by connecting with the element of air. Aerial Yoga is a combination of traditional yoga poses done on the floor and postures practiced using a soft fabric trapeze suspended at hip height. The new class helps the body to move freely with less effort by counteracting gravity. Suspension in the air releases tension in the bones and muscles, and strengthens core muscles while increasing spinal and shoulder flexibility.
Sleep-Guided Meditation
To break down the barriers to sleep—stress and an overactive mind—Sanctuary offers a yoga program that incorporates sleep-guided meditation. Yoga Nidra is a powerful practice done lying down that can slow down the mind’s thinking process, and in doing so releases stress and toxins from the body naturally. The class begins with light yoga postures and easy breathing techniques. (In fact, the biggest challenge for participants might be not drifting off to sleep!) Because Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness, it creates a supercharged feeling of connection and well-being physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Hike-Tech
Guests who book Sanctuary’s Hike-Tech package can document their 2020 adventures with their own GoPro Hero Session. The package features a two-night stay for two, daily breakfast, a guided hike, a GoPro Hero Session to keep, and a 60-minute spa service per person at the Sanctuary Spa—the perfect reward for a day on the trails.
Sanctuary Spa
Sanctuary Spa offers personalized service for the ultimate wellness experience. The spa features steam rooms, jacuzzis, a Watsu immersion pool, fitness center, 25-yard outdoor lap pool, and more. One of the most striking recent additions to Sanctuary Spa is the Women’s Quiet Room—a windowless, cocoon-like room that offers spa-goers a tranquil alternative to the more social environment of the women’s lounge. A massage in Sanctum, Sanctuary Spa’s private stone-walled outdoor treatment room, is a must.
