A look at Stila’s Bohemian Renaissance Collection with Must-Have Makeup Tips from Charlie Riddle

Stila’s new fall collection Bohemian Renaissance is here, and it embraces the brand’s feminine playfulness with reimagined cult classics, such as eyeshadow duos featuring the iconic “Kitten” shade and signature lip glazes. Whimsical artwork from illustrator Bijou Karman captures “Stila Girl” vibes to bring modern romance and a touch of magic to the collection. We chatted with Charlie Riddle, Global Director of Stila Cosmetics, about the new collection and must-have makeup tips for a flawless fall look.

What is your all-time favorite Stila product?  

I have three and they rotate back and forth, but right now it’s Stila’s Heaven's Hue Highlighter in Kitten. You can wear it anywhere and it builds dimension to the skin while adding the perfect sheen. It's one of those products that just wakes your skin up and it looks great on any skin tone. The other two are Convertible Color and One Step Correct. 

Do you have any favorite shades/products from the new launches? 

My favorite shade in the new collection is in the Trifecta Metallica Lip, Eye & Cheek Stick in 'Pink Sapphire'. It’s this beautiful opalescent pink that looks great as eyeshadow, blush, or on lips. My favorite product is the new One Step EYE Correcting & Brightening Serum. It's so hard to find a color corrector that doesn't feel like a concealer. This product feels more like an eye cream correcting hybrid because it's so hydrating, it de-puffs, and the color-correcting swirls melt into eye area versus sitting on top of it like most correctors do.

What do you think the must-have makeup trend/style will be this fall. Any tips for achieving it? 

I think we will see a couple of strong trends at the forefront this fall. One is monochromatic makeup, but in jewel-like tones and with textures such as shimmers and metallics. The other is continuing to define natural features using browns instead of blacks, and focusing on products that even out your skin tone without a lot of coverage. 

Mask-wearing is a new addition to the fall look, bringing focus to the eyes. Do you have a favorite eye makeup trick that you can share for fall? 

Take one shade and make it multi-dimensional. Take a product like a shadow or cream stick and start by intensely lining the lash line for the most impact of color. Then apply to the center of the lid for an all-over wash. Lastly, very lightly sweep on the crease up to the brow bone of the same color until blended out. This gives the perfect ombre eye all while using just one color. 

Biggest makeup secret or best beauty advice? 

A classic tip, but it’s the most important: Take care of your skin, it starts from within—diet and exercise. Always take off your makeup, tone your skin, moisturize, and use an eye cream.
