Beauty Boss: Alina Mehrle, Founder of AMEON
Our latest Beauty Boss is Alina Mehrle, Founder of AMEON—an innovative cryotherapy-inspired skincare line that offers powerful healing benefits that nourish skin and awaken the mind to allow skin to reach its ultimate potential. Their formulas offer a future-focused approach to skin care backed by science and technology, and the company has worked with award-winning artificial intelligence company NWO.ai to create data-driven formulas that make an impact.
After she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30, Mehrle underwent eight rounds of chemotherapy which left her with dehydrated and fragile skin. She discovered cryotherapy to help treat her skin issues and found that it also sparked her passion for skin care, which led to her spending several years developing formulas with leading scientists that would protect and heal skin.
Recently, AMEON named designer, entrepreneur, and author Julia Haart as the company’s brand ambassador. Haart will also help to lead their marketing and brand development, and will help accelerate its mission to encourage cryotherapy and gratitude practice as a way to improve skin and physical and mental health and well-being.
We chatted with Mehrle who shared the inspiration behind the brand, secrets for success, beauty tips, and much more.
When was AMEŌN founded and what does the name mean?
AMEON launched in June 2022, but prior to that we were under development for more than three years. The product development period for our collection, which includes five products, took more than two years. I started developing the line after my cancer was cured and I was in remission. It started as a healing project for my soul.
About our name: AME means “soul” in French and ON comes from our motto, “Turn ON your skin potential.” As a brand, we represent the balance between two worlds—the world of nature and spirituality and the world of modern science, achievement of medicine, art, and design.
What inspired the creation of the brand?
My skincare story began with a breast cancer diagnosis five years ago. The treatment caused extreme damage to my skin. On my journey to heal, rejuvenate, and restore it, my oncologist introduced me to cryotherapy, which completely changed my skincare routine and inspired me to found AMEON and create our signature product, Frozen Essence.
Does AMEŌN have a hero product?
We have two hero products: the Glow Manifesto Frozen Essence and Holy Cream Diamond Moisturizer.
What are your favorite products from the brand?
I can't live without all of them, but our Aurora Glow Serum is a really special one. It was a complex process to work on this serum and the formula is really special and works double duty. The idea was to use peptides and vitamin C together. This combination is a winner because these ingredients complement each other. They both benefit the skin and keep the skin barrier strong and healthy, which is why the Aurora Glow Serum is my absolute must-have!
Where are your products sold?
We are available on our website. In New York you can buy our skincare at our location at Equinox Rockefeller Center. In the UK we are available at Sephora UK. Soon we also will be available in Neiman Marcus.
Future plans for the brand?
We are excited to expand our brand and introduce AMEON products and our philosophy to the people around the whole world. We are also working on a launch of four new products. Two of them hopefully will be ready to launch in Q4 2023. I'm so inspired by AMEON and our community that I want to grow and launch beautiful multipurpose products that will serve women and transform their skin. Through AMEON I want to share, to teach, to listen, and to learn.
Who inspires you?
Strong, kind women who follow their heart and know how to dream and work hard. From my breast cancer journey, I met so many inspiring and brave women who wanted to share and help and I want to do the same. A sisterhood of women may just be the most powerful force known to humanity. Julia Haart is the great example of this strong, super smart woman and my inspiration.
Secret to success?
Be ready to work hard. There is no such thing as overnight success. Love people and surround yourself with the best ones. Additionally, invest in your inner circle and the connections you have with people.
Beauty secrets?
I have my beauty secret ritual that I do almost every day. The ritual is quite simple. It has two easy steps and takes just three to five minutes a day.
Step 1: Massage your skin gently with a cold item of your choice. This is where you can customize and get creative. You can use your favorite AMEŌN frozen essence, cold water, cold facial tools, or give yourself an ice facial.
Step 2: While massaging, reflect on everything in your life to be grateful for—anything counts including your warm bed, your loyal pet, your favorite meal, your favorite TV show, etc.
Wellness tips?
Breath. It really helps to balance yourself during the day and breathing technique helps me a lot.
Carry food with you. Having water and healthy snacks close at hand will avoid vending machines and fast food stops.
Staying properly hydrated is essential. Since the body is mostly composed of water, it serves to carry oxygen, nutrients, and glucose to cells providing energy, cushioning joints, and fortifying muscles. Dehydration can leave a person mentally and physically drained, in addition to causing skin dullness and lost elasticity.
Best advice?
Relax and trust the process.
Favorite way to relax?
I love to read! A good book is like a beautiful trip to a new world. I found out about an amazing community @belletrist and they introduce a new book every month. I love to discover new books through them.
