HOSHINOYA Tokyo is an elegant luxury property known as the first high-rise ryokan (traditional inn) in Tokyo. During the Edo period, many samurai residences were located in Otemachi in the place where HOSHINOYA Tokyo now stands due to its proximity to the Edo Castle (currently the Imperial Palace). Once inside the large entryway door, guests are welcomed with seasonal confectionery and tea. Each floor is only accessible to guests staying on that floor and features an ochanoma, a lounge where guests can relax, read, or hang out. Traditional room design includes tatami floors (mat floors), windows hidden behind shoji screens that can be opened for sunlight, and deep soaking baths. HOSHINOYA Tokyo is home to a natural hot springs spa on the top floor of the building where guests can soak in indoor and outdoor baths from 3 pm to 11:30 am the next morning. The spa at HOSHINOYA offers a variety of body treatments and massages, including their signature treatment, "Shiki.” This original treatment uses steamed herb balls made from Japanese plants which are gently rolled over the legs, back, and neckline to wrap the whole body with warmth.
