In the 1970s when she was as a celebrity makeup artist in New York working with clients that included Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker, McEvoy noticed a gap in the beauty industry for good quality makeup tools, and started by creating professional-quality makeup brushes that all women could use.

We chatted with McEvoy who shared her favorite beauty and wellness tips, secrets for success, best advice, and much more.

When was Trish McEvoy founded?

Trish McEvoy beauty was started in 1975 with six hand-crafted makeup brushes.

What inspired the creation of the brand?

I’ve always believed that beauty should be easy, joyful, and simple. I’ve always loved the power of fragrance, skincare, and makeup; the wonder and the joy of discovery. I was inspired to create my brand to demystify the beauty routine; to put people’s minds at ease by teaching them exactly what they need to know—and nothing that they don’t. My goal is to help people look their absolute best (and to have fun in the process!)

McEvoy launched her brand in 1975 to give women the tools they need to feel confident, happy, and powerful.

What was your journey like in the beauty industry?

My love affair with beauty started as a young girl, playing with different scents in my grandmother’s Berlin perfumery. She had an uncompromising commitment to quality and I saw that in the special bond between her and her clients. I started my career as a makeup artist, launching my own line of skincare, makeup, and brushes in 1975, and I carry that same uncompromising commitment to quality forward in everything I create.

Does Trish McEvoy Beauty have a hero product?

To me every product is a hero! Each one is a building block that works beautifully alone or as an essential part of your entire routine.

Do you have a favorite product from your brand?

I could never pick just one!

Future plans for the brand?

I’m constantly improving existing formulas and developing new products. It’s always a work in progress, and I enjoy every minute of it! I’m very particular about the stores that I’m in and always looking to enhance my distribution without compromising on the service that our clients receive.

Trish McEvoy Beauty includes makeup, skincare, brushes and tools, and scents.

Secret to success?

Beauty secrets?

The brand also makes fragrances that weave natural essences into complex arrangements.

Wellness tips?

Best advice?

Give yourself the gift of time. Being present allows you to celebrate the joy of the moment that you’re in.
