We Spent the Day With Global Makeup Artist Lisa Eldridge and Tested Out Her Captivating Collection

With global makeup artist Lisa Eldridge at her recent event in Los Angeles.

Never in a million years did I ever think that I would be lucky enough to meet THE Lisa Eldridge. To say that I am a fan of Lisa would be an understatement. Not only is Eldridge a world-renowned makeup artist (if you can think of a famous face, she’s definitely done their makeup) and Global Creative Director of Lancôme, but she is also an educator, author, makeup historian, and jewelry designer—just to name a few of her accomplishments.

We Visited Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles for an Intimate Masterclass Experience

After meeting Edlridge I can confirm that she is just as lovely in person as she is online. Total fan girl moment! I started watching makeup videos and tutorials on YouTube before the word “influencer” was even invented.  Watching her content over the years has taught me so much above makeup and skincare.

But beyond Eldridge’s obvious talent as an artist and product developer, she has an aura about her that makes her seem like a friend with the best qualities—honest, calm, and kind. Meeting her and getting to chat was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She even signed my copy of her book, “Facepaint: The Story of Makeup.”

We Chat All Things Beauty With Celebrity Makeup Artist Joyce Bonelli

I was able to get an up close and personal look at Eldridge’s collection in Los Angeles to celebrate the brand’s availability in the U.S. The range includes complexion, lip, eyes, and skincare, as well as her beautiful collection of jewelry.

The Lip Collection consists of the Velveteen Liquid Lip Colour, True Velvet Lip Colour, Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colour, Insanely Saturated Lip Color, Gloss Embrace Lip Gloss, and the Enhance and Define Lip Pencil. The lipsticks are my personal favorite. The formulas are impeccable and the packaging is luxurious and elegant.

For eyes, we got to play with the high-performance Eyeshadow Palettes, Liquid Lurex Eyeshadows, and the new Seamless Glide Eye Pencils. The shadows are micro plastic and talc-free. I love the Liquid Lurex Eyeshadows. Sparkles on my eyes? Yes, please.

The Seamless Skin Foundation, which features 43 shades, is one of the most inclusive foundations on the market. The Elevated Glow Highlighter (the “skincare-grade glow-giver”) is Eldridge’s take on the liquid highlighter which, like the rest of her products, is unlike anything else on the market  and “undupeable.”

Lisa Eldridge Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow ($27) is creamy, lightweight, and available in multiple effortlessly blendable shades including Iris (pictured).

Eldridge is the queen of skincare. Just listening to her talk about the formulations and the ingredients was incredibly educational. She has a wealth of knowledge. Her skincare products include the Skin Enhancing Treatment Cleanser, the Skin and Makeup Enhancing Mist, and the Luxuriously Gentle Cleansing and Exfoliating Cloth. My skin has never been more excited.

The packaging was thoughtfully designed by Eldridge and is aesthetically pleasing. Everything in the range is meant to be special, to be enjoyed, admired, and displayed. True works of art. Everything is 100% cruelty-free and suitable for sensitive skin.

Lisa Eldridge Skin Enhancing Treatment Cleanser ($49) is a luxurious balm that performs as a cleanser, face mask, and facial massage treatment.

I received the invite and was so excited (and nervous!)  When given the opportunity to meet someone you truly admire, you start to second guess yourself. Will they like me? Will they be turned off by my obvious adoration and inability to form a complete sentence in their presence?

To calm my nerves, I started thinking about the reason why I have looked up to Eldridge all of these years.  It’s not just because she’s an incredibly accomplished and talented makeup artist, and successful businesswoman. It’s her passion. Her passion for makeup as art. Makeup as history. Makeup as an integral part of society and culture.

It’s also her message. Her message that makeup isn’t about making you look like someone else or covering up your own perceived imperfections. Makeup is not about how someone else sees you. But it can shape the way you see yourself. It is about enhancing and bringing your best features forward.

You would think as a writer, I would be able to come up with a better way to describe the day other than “amazing.” It truly was just that. Amazing.

Eldridge’s book “Face Paint: The Story of Makeup” reveals the entire history of the art form and surveys the cutting-edfe makeup science of today and tomorrow.

Thank you, Lisa. Thank you for spending time with us.  Thank you for showcasing your beautiful products, your knowledge, and your talent. Above all, thank you for the reminder that our own beauty is ever-present.  Sometimes you just might need a little lipstick to help you see it.

All of Eldridge’s products are available on her website. The Limited-Edition Holiday and Party Kits make the perfect gifts for the makeup lover in your life, just in time for the holidays!
