Behind the Brand: Luxury Sun Care Brand By the Beach Elevates SPF Routines With Fun and Sensorial Products
Longtime beauty industry veterans Andrew Glass and Jessica McGratty-Singer had worked together for over a decade when they decided to join forces in 2025 to launch By the Beach, an elevated and sensorial sun protection brand.
Glass has founded a number of successful beauty brands including Non Gender Specific, wakse and nauox, while McGratty-Singer worked with brands mainly in sales and marketing with global travel retail working with airlines, cruises, and airports.
By the Beach’s line of luxurious creams, dry oils and glazes provide broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection while infusing skin with the delectable scents of cotton candy, tangerine, and juicy melon. All of their products are formulated with clean ingredients and in addition to offering protection against UVA and UVB rays, they also contain various antioxidants, botanicals, and vitamins that nourish, protect, and enhance skin.
We chatted with McGratty-Singer, who shared the inspiration behind their products, their unique scents and benefits, and more.
When was By the Beach founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?
Andrew and I founded it in 2025, although it was many years in the making as we have worked together for over a decade! I was living in London, which is not known for its weather, and Andrew in Atlanta.
We often would travel to the South of France and Miami for work and love being by the beach and the happy carefree feelings that it invokes. We wanted a brand that is playful and makes people happy!
What inspired the creation of your brand?
We think it’s very important to wear SPF on your body, not only on your face all year round. Especially for your neck, chest, and hands. We wanted to combine our love of fragrance and skincare.

Tell us more about your products and what makes them special.
Our key ingredient is Gentiana Scabra root, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, moisturizing properties, and rich in antioxidants. It helps to calm redness, irritation, and improves skin barrier function.
Our products offer numerous benefits including a hydrating formula that isn’t greasy or heavy, broad spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays, non-comedogenic, they double as a light scent throughout the day, and offer a sensorial experience with vibrantly colored formulas that look beautiful on the skin and smell incredible. They make every day feel like a beach day!

What's next for the brand?
The launch of our baseball caps to department stores in the UK and U.S. as well as to cruise ships!
