The sleepy Pacific Northwestern town of Tacoma, Washington, is approximately 30 miles southwest of Seattle. Most visitors tend to go to the latter, mistakenly thinking that there’s nothing to do in Tacoma. However, the city offers many great places to dine, has a booming nightlife scene, and stuns travelers with its breathtaking hiking and bike trails. Tourists might also be surprised to find that there are spectacular spas in The City of Destiny, as Tacoma has been dubbed.

Washington Spa Guide: The Best Spas in Seattle

Tacoma is also nicknamed “Grit City” thanks to Tammy Blount, former president and CEO of the Tacoma Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau. If you ever find yourself in Tacoma and want to take the next step in your relaxation journey instead of showing your grit, we encourage you to stop by one of the city’s many spas.

Below, we’ve rounded up several of the most noteworthy spas in Tacoma for our Washington Spa Guide.

You can also get facials, waxing, tinting, lash extensions, makeup services, and nail care. Salon services include haircuts, color services, keratin treatments, styling, and bridal services.

One of the best treatments to try is the European Facial. This lavish offering addresses the upper face and neck, but it also targets the décolleté. The facial includes a massage of the scalp, hands, and feet as well as exfoliation, a masque, and hot towels. The end result? Soft, glowing skin.

You can schedule a treatment at Lux on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The spa is closed on Sunday. To set up your appointment, call the number listed above or book online.

M & M Massage Spa is a place where folks can “reduce stress, relieve built-up chronic pain, and increase the overall quality of [their] life.” This spa has Asian influences and offers massages in line with that such as Shiatsu, as well as Swedish and hot stone massages. A standout service here is the reflexology massage, which can help you reduce anxiety and fatigue.

The spa exclusively offers massages and doesn’t offer facials or other body treatments. To make an appointment at M & M, call the number listed above. You can visit the spa daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Another recommended package is the Serene Duo, which is designed for two people and includes a massage and facial. These treatments are 180 and 120 minutes long for an ultra-long and indulgent spa experience.

The spa is closed on Monday but is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Book your appointment online or by calling the number listed above.

The Little Med Spa

711 Saint Helens Ave, Suite 203, Tacoma, WA 98402; (253) 227-5389

The Little Med Spa is the definition of small but mighty. The intimate spa consists of one room, but offers a relaxing atmosphere. Owner Joni Baker is a nurse practitioner who has more than 15 years of experience in the medical field. She received her certification in advanced injectables and now offers services like Botox, Dysport, Sculptra, microneedling, PRP/PRF hair restoration, filler, and chemical peels.

One of the services we suggest trying is The Perfect Derma Peel. This treatment is “a medium depth, medical grade chemical peel suitable for all skin types” and is best for treating dark spots, acne, and acne scars. Once you’re done peeling, which takes about three days, you’ll notice radiant, even-textured skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles.

Schedule your appointment with Baker online or by calling the phone number listed above. The med spa’s business hours are Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The spa is closed on Sunday and Monday.
